I believe this article is worthless. How many people paid anything close to sticker?

Back in Feb I paid $29.6 for a brand new 2015 3.8 Sig that snickered for $43.6.

Just four weeks ago my dad leased a 2016 3.8 AWD Sig that stickered for $46k. The actual selling price of the vehicle in the lease was $35k.

Depreciation only matters when you factor in what you actually paid for the vehicle.

The article also fails to mention the biggest reason the Hyundai Genesis is plummeting in value - the brand change. Genesis G80s will not depreciate at anywhere near the rate of the Hyundai Genesis. It was actually holding fairly well - outpacing all other luxury brands in retention other than Lexus, until the new nameplate was announced.

Any list without the days or K900 at the top is worthless. Both those vehicles have above 40% depreciation

yeah, that proves nothing if not that the article is dead on.. I was one of the first adopters in my area so as such I paid about 45k for my tech AWD in 2014,if I'd known about the 2016 content addition and the upcoming name change I definelty wouldn't have purchased when i did especially seeing that an utlimate awd slightly pre-owned and can picked up for a tad over 30k and new for about 40k is nuts

Bought the Genesis to enjoy for years to come. So far, it's a keeper and will milk the 10 year bumper to bumper warranty. It's outstanding comfort and luxury for the price. Why worried about resale value if ya gonna keep to enjoy to years?

I love driving my genny. 10/100 warranty is the icing on the cake. I don't see myself getting another car for about 9 years.

That's the price one must pay to be an early adopter. I'd argue most on this forum paid significantly less than MSRP when you look at the "prices paid" thread.

Very few cars go close to MSRP, unless they are an extremely high demand vehicle that falls into a "specialty category" such as a Jeep Wrangler or Tesla, or perhaps an uber-expensive exotic luxury car.

We live in a world where people buy what's on sale. 20-30% off is the new "full price". Walk through any retail stores recently....

Yeah, I paid $51k for my 5.0 Ultimate and these things retail for $64k? It was a demo with 11,000km though. If I paid retail, it would've depreciated over $1/km... lol... oh well, depreciation isn't a factor for me when buying a car. I take long financing plans and after 5 years, I re evaluate. If it's still worth less than what I owe then I'll drive it until they're about equal. If it's worth more than what I owe then I'll trade it in.

If Canada actually got the 10/100 warranty, I'd keep it for much longer because I really like the car.
