  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm having a weird problem w/ no air coming out of the center AC vent that's to the immediate right of the Nav display... I've cycled through all of the vent settings to no avail - not even a puff. All others flow properly. Any ideas?

And yes, the vent register IS open....

Blend door servo failed in the dash. Think it's the one responsible for windshield vents. You may hear a light clicking if you cycle with fan on low.

No clicking... and it was just the one dash vent. Must have been sticky for some reason - I tapped on top of the dash while cycling through modes and it corrected itself. I turned off all the auto vent stuff (smart vent & auto defog) for now. Thinking about pulling & reinserting the fuse for the climate control memory to clear it.

Are you still covered by warranty?

Damn. Well, let's hope it is something other than the servo. It is a nightmare to get to... (think you have to remove the dash)

I had a weird occurrence last week: started the car and the AC was only blowing out of the footwells and rear vents and that was NOT the setting it was set to. Cycled through all the vent settings and eventually got it blowing from the proper vents. It was like it was confused. Hasn't happened since. Any ideas?

No ideas to help you, but my dealer is telling me it's normal that my vents blow strongly through the defrost vents when I set it to feet! Face vents are fine, defrost is fine, it just doesn't like the feet setting.. The service advisor said the tech said it's normal due to sensors detecting humidity.. I'll be taking it to another dealer for a second opinion when it's time for my next oil change in a month.

I don't know your exact situation, but, there is an automatic defrost setting. I've had two cars and in over 4 years never had to manually put the defroster on. The sensor took care of it. Keep in mind though, it does not always blow through that vent with force. In winter, the climate control calling for heat always uses the feet vent, adds defrost as needed.

I used to keep the setting on auto & let the car have control, but over the past month or two I noticed condensation on the outside of the windshield. It was to the point that I was turning on the wipers to clear it off frequently. At some point I realized it's because more air is directed there when the vent setting is to feet or a combination of feet/face. As a result, I've manually chosen face vents to avoid the condensation. There's occasionally slight condensation when on face setting but it's not nearly as annoying.

I'll play with it a little more & crank up the heat & cycle through the settings to see if that appears to make anything work differently.

That does not sound normal. On a less than 80 degree day and very humid I may get a tiny bit of moisture right above the vent, maybe an inch. It clears up with some driving. Sounds like yours is much more and perhaps the damper is not closing or not sealing properly. I never had so much to put the wipers on.

Hopefully, it doesn't come to that. But it seems to be fine now.... Strange that it was just the one vent though.

I've contemplated disconnecting my battery for a while to attempt to reset everything to defaults. Won't help if it's a mechanical fault though.
I did have some AC issues that apparently got solved when I pulled both fuses & reinserted them... I'm starting to believe that "modern" cars can benefit from a "reboot" from time to time!

I know this is over a year ago but I’m experiencing this now or just noticed it now today. Was there an issue or is it normal?
