  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi so I bought a salvaged title hyundai genesis coupe 2013 but was fixed and everything. I I've noticed a weird smell coming in from the A/C vents when I turn on the a/c it doesn't smell but when it's just regular air there is a weird smell I also feel like I smell it after I turn off the car.

Well, a critter may have crawled up in there to make the A/C ducting its home and died. I had the same thing in a BRAND new 20016 Sonata from the dealer....found a damn mouse or some furry critter had made its nest in the cabin air filter area (it could not get thru the metal on the screen). It has packed in lots of 'vegetable material" (mesquite beans, etc) and that was the source of the smell. The dealer just kept spraying that deodorant into the ducts but I finally showed them when I pulled the cabin air filter.

So you did not describe the odor. Is more like petroleum (burning rubber, plastic, etc) or is it more of a biological nature.

IN any case, I'd pull the cabin filter and start there.
