  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just picked up my new Black 2012 R-spec - Love the power and tech!
One thing I'd like to change is the "H" logo that appears on the dashboard and spedometer menu start-up.
I'd like to reprogram this with the Genesis "wings" logo.
- Any suggestions - has anyone tried this?

It would be cheaper to buy a BMW.

That's a little on the low side how about more costly than repair bills on a BMW for an entire year. :D

I asked a tech at the dealership about this as well, you would need a computer swap and some new language skills to pull it off. By the way the computer is $10k.

The logo is probably just a graphic file (gif/jpg/png or whatever). I can't imagine how you could you could gain access to interact with the OS/ROM to swap in a Genesis graphic to replace the Hyundai logo, however. I'd be interested to know how one would go about doing this. You'd need serious hacking skills and some kind of interface to work through.

I agree. Most likely it is giff /jpeg file loaded into the bios/firmware. Probably akin to the like of an "E-Machine" or Sony Viao - etc. You get the same similar "splash" screen on start up as is with the Genesis "Start-up/Splash screen".

I'm sure it can be done just would take lots of time to be able to get to the point where you can get into the code to be able to identify and update that particular file.....

I would start by trying to get the latest software update on CD/DVD. It's possible that the image could be found on the disc, and that it could easily be replaced with something else on another disc. It's also possible that the disc is in some proprietary format and can't be read, or that the software update is encrypted or digitally signed.

It's also possible that there are specific requirements for the image used for the splash screen; e.g. file size, height/width, meta data, etc. Changing out the file might leave your system bricked (unusable) without being restored in the factory. I would proceed carefully.

For all of the reasons stated, this is not a do-it-yourself job
