  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The dealer is stumped as to why the 2 rear windows won’t open or close. They tried to test the motor but it’s completely seized, and a diagnostic wouldn’t give them anything either. This is the latest of weird things that my car has gone through in the 5 months I have owned this car.

I now need to make a separate appointment for them to diagnose the problem as they were slammed today. I’ve been going to this dealer every month to fix something new, and they never addressed the weird clicking noise in my steering wheel. This is getting old...

Anyone else have this issue before?

I had the windows stick. It was caused by a build-up of wax and gunk. I had a friend push down on the window button while I was pushing down on the window. After that, I cleaned things up and put some silicone grease into the top seal to prevent it from happening again.

The weird thing is that it’s both rear windows only. Dealer couldn’t figure out if the motor was working or not

I had this happen intermittently a couple of times. I was able to get them working after working the switches back and forth a few times. IIRC, there have been some other posts on this, and I think it was related to the switches.

Granted I know very little about cars per se but how could the dealer not figure out if the motor was working or not? You put power directly to the motor and either it works or it doesn’t. Or are you saying that you did not take it to their service department?

Correct. I have had both rear windows become non-responsive. After pressing the switches up and down a few times, they started working again. Not sure if the switch is the issue, or the motor, but it only impacted the rear windows on both sides. I never bothered with service since I was always able to get it working again.

I had them look at it while they did the oil change. the did a brief test but couldt diagnose if it was the switch on the door or the motor itself. I tried both switches and no luck. dropping it off at the dealer tomorrow after work.

I've sold my Genesis, but I had a similar problem with the left rear window. It was intermittent and always worked at the dealer. Also had an issue with the drivers window working part time.

Dealer tech got back to me today and said both of the window regulators are dead so they ordered new ones. I should get the car back tomorrow. Don’t know why this happened as I opened the windows maybe 2 or 3 times in the 5 months of ownership.

good luck, let us know if that solved the issue.

I had this problem on my '15 5.0. The left rear window was completely non-responsive when I bought the car. I took it to the local dealer, and it worked. They said that if it happens again, they'd replace the motor
