  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Were there any 2016 5.0s?

So, while entering specs, features, and pricing into my site's db for the new G80 I noticed something odd about the content for the 5.0--no rear sunshades. Trying to verify that the 2016 had no rear sunshades, well, I could not. A nationwide search for 2016 5.0s came up totally empty.

Hyundai has price and features lists for the 2016 Genesis 5.0. But do any actually exist?

No there were not.

Yeah, not that I know of. They needed to separate the G80 and the Genesis Sedan and that's one of the few ways they did...

Thanks. I now see that there's on 5.0 on the hyundaiusa.com consumer site. They just never updated the media site. For some reason companies rarely issue press releases when they decide to not do something :)

You don't differentiate from the top of the line Genesis 5.0 to the G80 5.0 by deleting content like the rear sunshade. I use mine all the time.

I'm verifying that the G80 5.0 doesn't have the sunshade, as it seems an odd feature to delete. It is offered on the 3.8.

I use mine a lot too. I checked the genesis website and it does appear that it is not available on the 5.0 regardless of trim. Makes zero sense.

On my previous Chrysler 300 the upgraded Stereo package (not the Beats Audio package, the one above) would delete the rear sunshade - it wouldn't work with the sub-woofer that was placed there with the Alpine(?) audio package.

Maybe it's a similar issue here, although as far as I know the audio packages are the same. I love the sunshade - wouldn't give that up for a V8 ...

Odd ... does anyone with a 2015 V8 have the rear sunshade?

I have a 2015 V8 with the rear sunshade. All 2015s have a rear sunshade. I made it go up automatically when I shut the car off and down when I start the car.

So they actually removed this feature from the 2017 G80 5.0, while it was available on the 2015 Genesis 5.0 - what an odd decision that is ...

All US models that is. Canada did not get the rear sunshade on the 2015. First Generation genesis did have this feature in Canada though. Used it twice to see what it did. :roll eyes: I guess if you live in sunny hot climates it is useful though.

Sunshades are very useful in sunny climates. i can see why this feature isn't that important in Canada. It is very useful in the southern US.

I use it almost every day here in South Florida when I leave the car at the parking lot during the day at the sunlight.

I agree - same in Atlanta. I wish we were able to tilt the sunroof while having the sunroof shade closed. I understand why they don't want to do that (it would be a mess if it got wet) but my kids' VWs have this and it is GREAT.

The only solution I can come up is to tint the sunroof to reduce the heat load and then leave the shade open.

I am in TX. I find with the ceramic tint on all windows, a clear tint on the windshield, the rear sunshade up, and a sunshade on the windshield the car is never too hot when I get back in, even when it is 100 degrees.

One plus is my sunshade goes up automatically when I shut off the car so I never forget.

I can definitely see there being a "sunshade thread". :p In any event, in cars that I've had with the rear sunshade - the only time I had it down was when it automatically moved down when geared in reverse...

They planned to remove it from the 2016, then never imported any 2016s. I agree it is odd, but they have confirmed it to be the case.
