  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

what aftermarket items do you want?

If I could get another 10-15 "real" horsepower and have to run my v6 on premium to do it, I'd be happy with that, but more than anything I want to shut off that damned ESC!

i assume you guys have an ESC button for that, but it only semi disengages it?

Yes, we do have a button and a little light that reads ESC OFF.

HOWEVER....I would say it does absolutely nothing.

You are not able to get sideways unless your foot is still riding the brake a little, you can only lay about a 3 foot strip of rubber. (watch the videos)

My biggest issue is how it cuts you off. I have hammered it at a green light and about the time i hit peak torque/hp the wheels will give just a little and then BAM...I am dead in the water for a good 5-7 seconds before it will go again. It has a harsh cutoff.

My thing is that I have paid upwards of $40G's for a 375 hp BEAST that still has training wheels. It really sucks.

Sorry for the VENT but I hope this helps you!:o

They probably did that because I'd say the majority of drivers on the road don't want to get "sideways" while in spirited driving :D It's not like this is a 2000lb drifting car, it's a large luxury vehicle.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

True, but that's why the button is there in the first place.
If it says 'off' when you disengage it, THEN IT SHOULD BE OFF!
Sorry.
I too have had the "fun & games" experience intterupted when I was doing my best Steve McQueen and that ESC makes the entire car shudder quite rudely when it re-engages.

True BUT

Believe me when I say that this is a large luxury car that WOULD drift and look better doing it than a blingy 2000lb car! :)

I would rather watch a $400k Bently take a turn sideways than a dressed up mustang.:p

Maybe the button should have a legal disclaimer that pops up as soon as it's deactivated :)

I guess you are right, off should mean off. I guess I just question the point of it.

HA! Maybe so.:p

If you search the forum you will see where I found some valuable information about ESC and the laws governing how it is applied to an automobile from NHTSA. All new cars are required to have it BUT the driver can have the option to temporarily disable it. It is left up to the automaker to decide exactly how much we can disable the system. Obviously, Hyundai thinks we need it on whether the button is on or off. I disagree, however. If I am stuck in ice/mud I am just stuck. There is no flooring it to get out of the situation and if I did, it would probably burn up the ESC system because it would continuously try to correct me.

But Yes, a legal disclaimer would be cool but I dont want another screen to navigate through like the one that pops up everytime you start your car. Lets keep this one to the owners manual and ourselves!!!:D:D:D
