  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What are the changes for the new 2010? IF the changes are too significant, I might consider buying an 2009 when the 2010s come out.

I am not sure how anyone would know that right now, but in any case it is very unusual for a automaker to make any significant changes in the second year of a new model unless something is a problem.

Hopefully, there will be some suspension tuning done (hopefully it be will done before 2010), but I expect that could be fairly minor (unless they go to an adjustable suspension). Sometimes automakers will change the wheels in year 2, but not always. Maybe some other minor changes to electronics (for example better integration of audio system with blue tooth, etc).

4/AWD. But it isn't going to happen until "2nd generation" according to my dealer. Hyundai says it can't offer it with the current setup, but will later. I'm hoping for 2011 when my lease is up.

Usually each "generation" of a car is 4-5 years. I guess there could be exceptions in this case, I don't really know. Most automakers do make slight changes in year 3 though.

As far as AWD, the popularity of that may depend on future gas prices, as it usually lowers mpg by about 1-2 mpg. Fortuneately, I don't need it where I live.

I don't really follow what you mean by "too significant". Can you define that a little more?

Thanks--

I mean if they add this and add that feature to the base model and raise the price by $3,000-4,000

The base model is fairly well equipped, so I doubt the will add a bunch of standard features (at least not in year 2). However, the pricing will be based on supply and demand. Also, they are not importing a lot of base model Genesis Sedans (this could be your biggest problem if you want a base model).

Bit if the economy were not in a deep recession, I would have expected the price to increase somewhat even without any feature changes. That is because a lot of people think that Hyundai is deliberately underpricing the Genesis to get their foot into the luxury car market, and that prices will eventually increase faster than other models. The price also depends somewhat on the US dollar vs Korean Won exchange rates (the Won has been fairly weak lately, so that reduces the pressure to raise US prices).

I believe the biggest change for the 2010s will be the addition of a Flux Capacitor which should make 88 mph more interesting.

I was hoping on a passenger side cooled seat, rear auto up/down windows, a user enabled 40gig hard drive, (to store music), and either rear door push buttons or touch sensor door openers for all four doors. You know, the 'little' things.

Probably won't see these until 2011.

i agree with this dude, minus the touch door sensors.

Things I wouldn't mind seeing happen for the 2010 Genesis but know will never happen:

1. Stick shift option
2. Heated and cooled front and rear seats
3. HD for music storage
4. AWD option
5. Performance version via F/I application
6. Why not a hybrid version?

I definitely agree with 1-3 and would also add a sport type package for better handling, etc. I dont want AWD and dont think Hyundai should offer this option. AWD is an expensive option that is overrated IMHO.

It's not for a performance option. It's for us in the Northeast that need AWD for our oh so great winters.

digital display for oil life status and brake pad replacement (like on my 10yr old BMW!)...

I lived in the Northeast and drove a RWD 330i for a few years and never had any problems. Get winter tires for the car. AWD IMHO is a marketing gimmick. It really only helps you when you are completely stopped. If you plan on driving in more than 6 inches of snow get a truck or a car that is higher off the ground.

Different strokes for different folks. I've owned 3 RWD cars and all of them sucked driving in the snow. I'd much rather drive a FWD in the snow then a RWD but after driving around buddies STi's and Evo's I'm not opposed to having AWD. I'd prefer a system like the Nissan GT-R's that has the car as RWD and only makes it AWD when it senses you need it

Agree. Adjustable Air suspension should be an option esp as this is avail in Korea. Driver seat cushion length adjustment and Auto close trunk, doors would really put in the LS460 class. I am sure there will be some new colors next year. Maybe Genesis wings rather than H badging!

I would like to see the following:

1) The Nav deleted from the Tech Package and made a standalone option.
2) Adjustable suspension added to Tech Package (in place of Nav)
3) 17 speaker Lexicon made a standalone, dealer upgradable, option without Nav.
4) Bi-Xenon's made a standalone option.
5) Limited Slip Differential made standard on all Genesis (V6 and V8)
6) 18" wheels removed from all packages and made a standalone option.

This would give Hyundai better pricing and still allow dealers to install many options on location.

My 2 cents.

I wouldn't want that. Brake pad sensors must be replaced once they activate - and even though they are cheap, they are extra cost for parts and labor.

Besides, I can tell when the brakes are worn, without resorting to the sensors.

On BMWs, only two of the brake calipers even have sensors (front left and rear right), so they aren't perfect either.

Those brake sensors are just another way for BMW to tighten the rules on the free maintenance program - no light, no brake pad replacement. Good thing that on my now-gone 325i, the sensor tripped with just two weeks left in the free maintenance period.

Even oil sensors can get annoying, especially with resetting. I'll stick to the recommended fixed interval @ 7500 miles (my Genesis is a weekend car, so most of its miles are low-stress highway miles), and switch to synthetic oil at a later point. (For now, I'm letting my selling dealership do the oil changes - two of them free, in fact.)

The 2010 Genesis sedan will have some tech enhancements including:

- smart cruise control (with active braking)
- lane departure warning system
- also improvement to suspension on all trims (as mentioned in other post)

no plan for ECU upgrade for Genesis
no turbo on Tau or V6
no ac power outlet for 2010 but probably later
