What shop diagnostic equipment is used to check codes and diagnosis faults on the Genesis?

It's called "Global Diagnostic System" or GDS http://hyundaigds.spx.com/main.aspx

Of course, you can check codes with any OBDII compliant code reader.

All the codes for your Genny can be found at http://www.hmaservice.com, but you'll need to sign up for an account to get to them.

Where is the OBDII port located on the 4.6?

It's way up under the dash towards the left side.

Once you get a feel for where it is, you can hook up a code reader without seeing it. You'll probably need a flashlight and have to "dive" down in the footwell to see the port the first time or two you try to hook up.
