  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

Test fitted a older 15in Power Acoustic subwoofer PW2-15 mounted in a black Bassworks box that was sitting in my basement. The sub is power by an Crunch 1000w amp bridged to 1ohm mounted on the back of the box. The sub used to pound in my old car that it was installed in years ago.

The box fit perfectly in the rear section of the trunk due to having a slanted rear and the box has a smooth black carpet that matches the Genesis black carpet perfectly. I may just have an audio shop integrate the amp to the stock system by tapping into the rear deck subwoofer inputs.

I would do it myself, but it seems like you have to access the stock subwoofer wires from the rear deck inside the car which means removal of the back seat. Too much trouble to do myself.

Note: The subwoofer box/amp is heavy(50+ pounds) so the extra weight is located just above the rear axle which may actually help offset the heavy front end of my 5.0 Genesis and equal out the weight distribution for better handling. The 2015 Genesis 5.0 weight ratio is 51:49(minus driver) I believe. The sub should make the weight ratio closer to 50:50(minus driver).

Better sound and improved weight distribution. Win win.:)

The box in the Genesis, perfect fit. Disregard the KIA first aid kit.:)
I am surprised that the Genesis did not come with a first aid kit like my old 2014 Optima SXL which I saved when I traded it in.

now all you need is the ability to remotely drive the vehicle to maintain that ideal weight ratio! Of course driving in this fashion to achieve perfect balance means you won’t actually be IN the car to hear the sub, but there will always be trade offs...

LOL. So true. I am sure that my 200lb frame in the driver's seat will just offset any weight benefits of the subwoofer over the rear axle, but every little bit helps.:)

All I did today was drove it and loved every second of it.

********"New" wheels and Michelin tires on my 2015 3.8 yesterday!
Ride is awesome - they do lightly "sing" a bit at highway speeds though. Guess I'll get used to it. ********

Did you get the new wheels from Hyundai under the 5 year guarantee ?

My orignal 19in wheels are showing worrying signs of surface bubbling and corrosion but I hear Hyundai
are less than keen to replace them claiming the " fair wear and tear " get out clause.

Pretty boring but I got an oil change even though I didn't need to, and an alignment because my steering wheel was slightly off. Got the oil change because I bought the car out of state from another Hyundai dealer and couldn't find any proof that a recent oil change was done (even though it was sold as a CPO and they're supposed to have done all that). Got the alignment because I can't deal with a crooked steering wheel.

Oh, and got a new key fob for the low, low price of $370 (programmed). Luckily, the dealer I bought from picked up the tab on that one.

My 15 3.8 Ultimate came with First aid kit

My 15 3.8 Ultimate came with First aid kit
LOL. Well I guess the previous owner of my Genesis removed it like I removed the one from my 2014 Optima when I traded it.:)

I will try to see if I can locate a Genesis first aid kit since they are provided with the car.

New grill and wheel finally put on! Chrome delete coming soon. Maybe lowering springs later
Looks great. Does your car have the radar "plate" for the adaptive cruise or not? I know I don't see anything but that doesn't mean you didn't find a clever way of hiding it...

Nope, you're right I never had adaptive cruise control since the car was used and the prior owner didn't option it in.

If I had adaptive cruise don't think I would've changed the grill, it'd be too much of a pain trying to figure out the wiring and censors

Yeah, but still....it looks awesome. If there was a relatively cheap and easy way to make mine look like yours does now (and keep my radar), I'd be all over it.

I felt like the V8 needed some protection given I travel in South GA often.

The setup was surprisingly easy and a certainly a clean DIY install.

Components used:
-Escort MAX 360 Radar Detector
-Escort M1 Dashcam
-Mirror Tap RJ-11 Kit
-BlendMount BMX-2000R

Time Required:
25 min

Easy of Difficulty:
3*

*(tightening the mount proved to be the most tedious and time consuming due to lack of hand space and room b/w dash and windshield)

Install Notes:

  • Used a label remover to gently open & access the wiring harness inside the rear view mirror housing.
  • Installed BlendMount prior to mounting RD.
  • I covered the console with a towel to prevent scratches and dings. Cannot tell you how many times my hands dropped that tiny hex key. Space is very tight.
  • Ran the wires over the top (rather than the bottom) of both MAX 360 and M1 to better conceal.
  • Make sure to tighten the ever living threads out of the BlendMount. If you think its tight, it's definitely not. The mount will come loose and reposition the RD if not super tight.
All in all, I am very pleased how well this install is concealed both from inside and outside the vehicle.

I'd love to hear what setup others members are running as protection.

I'm running a V1 "dark" Running Waze through Android Auto...
I dont particularly like Blendmounts as the RD hanging below the mirror blocks too much windshield area - the Escort is a great detector but it's really big. You did a great install though.

Incredible. I was not familiar with TMG before now.

I really love your setup to the point I am now having buyer's remorse with mine. Was intending on going the ZR5 route within the year but now that you've brought TMG to my attention that may change.

I got a few questions:

What makes your V1 "dark"?
I notice you got three heads up front, I take it that is necessary to defeat DragonEye due to the wide body of the car?
Overall, how do you like your TMG system?

Thanks I like it too!
JBV1 enables you to run it with the display off. It can come on with the alert or you can set it to stay dark.
Read through this when you have a chance:
I like the TMG so far. DragonEye is not used in NC so I dont really have to worry about it here. TMG is still working on algorithms for DE and have not quite gotten it JTG yet, but the other guns they're good to go. You're right about the 3 heads though. I need rear coverage but havent decided where they could go (and even if I want to take time to do it anyway). I got a good deal when I got them when they were 1st released - couldnt afford ALPs, lol.
I wouldnt have buyers remorse if I were you, that's a great detector and the LJs that escort incorporates with it are great too.

Man...you guys have me Googling the hell out of these funky names and acronyms. Dragon eyes, JTG's, APL's, lions, tigers, bears...

Gave it a good old fashioned hand wash on a Friday evening. Sun was down, temps were cool...perfect car washing weather. Breaking out the buffer early tomorrow morning to start working on getting some scratches out where the previous owner apparently resided every day in an auto car wash. I'll fix it.
