  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

Gave it a good old fashioned hand wash on a Friday evening. Sun was down, temps were cool...perfect car washing weather. Breaking out the buffer early tomorrow morning to start working on getting some scratches out where the previous owner apparently resided every day in an auto car wash. I'll fix it.
Quoting myself, but hey...it's ok. I actually followed through with my plan above and got the DA orbital polisher out and buffed the hood. Just one stepped it. Didn't polish afterward since, well....I just didn't feel like it. I did wax it, though. That's mandatory after using a compound on it. Turned out well but there's still a little more to do. Sadly, it's got some factory orange peel, but since I'm not wet sanding, it is what it is.

Did my first oil change since I bought it. I took the advice of some of the other members and did it top side. I used a mityvac 7201, mobil1, and a factory filter.

To remove the filter, I cut a side out of a 1/2 gallon milk jug to catch the oil. Worked like a charm.

Today I installed a 15in Power acoustic subwoofer and Crunch amp to my factory premium factory sound system. The overall sound is perfect to me now since I can actually feel the bass notes in my music without having to try to make the factory subwoofer provide a decent bass respond by turning up the bass in the EQ which only makes it sound muddy.

Darn. Today I torn the cone off my woofer by playing some ultra low bass note sound tracks from competition bass songs. The Power Acoustix 15in PW-2 woofer cone is only held by some glue and has a foam surround. No stitching. I guess you get what you pay for, however the woofer did last 12 years so I cannot complain I guess.

The voice coils are fine, but the woofer cone has to be glued back to surround. Sounded good while it lasted. I decided to order a 15in Kicker Comp R subwoofer to replace it. The Kicker subs are top quality with stitched surrounds. I have an dual 8in (woofer and passive radiator) Kicker Comp R bass tube in my Escalade and it hits hard. I bet the 15in comp r will be even louder.

Can anyone provide the wire diagram to tap into the amp for the extended sub?

Nice work, that explains why the dealers can do it without removing the engine bay splashguard.

Here is the non-premium system 14 speaker diagram

Here is the 17 speaker system diagram.

The factory amp is located under the trunk trim on the driver's side. The silver box with cables.

Applied my caliper decals today. Originally had intended to put on some white Genesis wing decals but I thought that was just too much white. I got them in the mail awhile ago and changed my mind. I thought a little bit of red in there would balance out the red from the tail lights. Didn't want brembo decals, couldn't come up with a good wing logo design with white and red either. I had the N line decals made up and I think I like how they look.

Today I replaced my cheap blown Power Acoustix 15in sub for a 15in Kicker Comp R sub. I am now back in business and the Kicker hit much harder than my old sub. The bass is smooth, strong, and clean in the cabin even with the rear seat armrest up.:)

I now just waiting for the protective grill to arrive since this woofer cost me a bit of cash and needs protection from loose items in the trunk.

The 15in Kicker Comp R without the grill.

So I decided to purchase the software update. I went the download route using my old a** windows pc(since they don't have the software for Mac OS). It was a long tedious process bc of my windows pc. The app crashed 3 different times on me and took 4.5 hours to download. It's finally finished downloading and I'm sitting in my car at 11:38 pm installing the update. Let's see how this goes. Im ready for Android auto on my way to work in the morning hahaha20190701_234153.jpg20190701_233618.jpg20190701_234053.jpg20190701_234110.jpg20190701_234153.jpgScreenshot_20190701-234447_Drive.jpgScreenshot_20190701-234439_Drive.jpg20190612_184652.jpg20190611_145116.jpg

Update #1. I finished installing the update late last nighton Snow(my car name). My regular navigation no longer works. Apple carplay and android auto work as intended. I plan on reinstalling the update to see if that will mitigate the standard navigation issues

Are those painted stock calipers?
Yes they are. I've been using G2 caliper paint kits for decades now. Usually do red but decided to switch it up with the gold this time.

I spoke to customer service about the failed to authenticate navigation message. They informed me that one of the digits for my device ID was entered wrong(my mistake). They sent me a email with an updated file containing the correct device and I had to copy the file onto two folders of the OE map SD card. The standard navigation starting working like normal after entering the OE map SD card into the car.

Sorry for all the messages. I wanted to keep everybody informed.

*next mods
1.) replace the 35% tint with 20%
2.) limo windshield strip and 50%tint on the entire windshield
3.)add the genesis logo plates behind the door handles inside of the car

Today I installed the grill to my 15in Comp R speaker. However, it seem to be more form than function due to have large holes and it is made of ABS plastic. Better than nothing I suppose. It does look good.

I miss having subs. The lexicon 14-speaker system doesn't have enough bass for me. I hope you're enjoying your setup. Do you get any rattle underneath the stock sub? I had that issue with my 2011 sonata. Rockford Fosgate P3s were my go to.

Thank you.
No rattles unless I turn the system volume up well past 1/2 way; then the trunk area begins to buzz a bit from outside the car. No rattles inside the car.

The 15in Kicker sub does add depth to my premium sound system that the stock sub does not alone.

I'm on vacation this week in Florida and I don't have the means to hand wash my car. Going into withdrawals every time I walk out to it and see all the dirt and water spots. I wonder if anyone will report me if I park it under the condo sprinklers in the morning and break the soap out...

LOL. I love Amazon Prime customer service!!!!

I say this because I just obtained a free 15in Kicker Comp R subwoofer due to some jackass vendor on amazon.com that refused to cancel an order that I mistakenly made in which they shipped and it just arrived today. The one I installed was shipped from Amazon itself under the 2 day shipping. The vendor took about 6 days to ship this one.

Well, I complained to Amazon.com customer service and they reviewed my messages to the vendor and they decided to just refund me my money and let me keep the speaker since the vendor was being unreasonable about the situation. I have been an Amazon member since 2002 so I guess that hold some weight and they just ate the $187 instead of risk losing my business.

Now I have a spare 15in woofer for my Genesis.:)
