  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

Polished the door trim. Turned out pretty good. Used a swirl remover compound and a 3” foam pad from a 3M headlight restoration kit. I hope it lasts. AA83911B-7C82-4B5B-8EF0-62DE70B0B642.webp

Nice!!! I just covered my scratched pillar trim with some black vinyl DiNoc carbon fiber trim covers. I wished that I knew that the stock pillars could be polished since I like the piano black trim look also. However, the black carbon fiber pillar look does help my Genesis stand out in the crowd.
Good job on bringing the trim back to life.:)

Here is how my DiNoc carbon fiber pillars look on my dirty Genesis. LOL.The trim even feels like carbon fiber when you touch it.

I had all my trim pieces (doors and sunroof) replaced before I agreed to buy. The dealer said the sunroof ones were a bitch.

I finally ungraded my Genesis very old navigation/audio software(original 2015 version) to the newer 13.5 version. Well worth the upgrade since the system boots up quicker, have in car text message reading ability finally, some graphic tweaks, and updated roads. However, I seem to have losted my phone battery and signal strength indicators in the right corner of the display with the upgrade.

The box it came in

My first text in the car from the wife at work asking about some shoes that is coming from Amazon.:)

really, damn it. I updated to 13.0, iphone, but my text are not visual. I just reads them to me and I have option to respond. I like the visual option way better

Can you share a pic of Maps?

Well, I was not moving when I checked the text. I am not sure how it works when I am moving. The system may lock-out the text reading option I bet while moving. Hell, I can not even adjust the vehicle settings until the car is stopped.

Stop, put it in Park and you can read them. Meantime, lawyers won't let you. People have been killed because of texts. Happened on the road behind my house. I was looking out the window and saw the car seconds after the head on into the truck. Yeah, I agree with the lawyers.

The 2D maps and menu tweaks are slightly better than my old version. However, I did gain a 3D map upgrade with the 13.5 update which I did not have before.

Yeah, now that you bring up that strong and sensible argument. I also agree while moving it would be plain stupid, irresponsible and dangerous.

Today I finally swapped the KIA first aid kit I had in my Genesis from my old 2014 KIA Optima SXL for a Genesis first aid kit since my Genesis did not come with a first aid kit. I am not sure if the first aid kit is a standard item or not, but I like having a first aid kit in my trunk for accidents away from home.

I know this is not an addition that many members will care about, but it does put a smile on my face when I see it in my trunk.:)

The Genesis kit is much larger than the KIA kit and has more items like small eye rinse bottles. Very nice first aid kit.

Nice! Any pics of the completed job with the ballasts mounted and cables routed to the bulbs through the bulb covers?
I did not take any pics after. I temporary leave the bulb cover off, but I will drill a little hole for the cable later.

I see. I was wondering where the large ballast would be mounted and how you routed the wires through the caps.

Anyway, the HID lights look good. The way the Genesis headlights is supposed to look:)

Note: I would seal the holes in the caps also to prevent condensation from entering the headlights and make them clouded from the inside out which is hard to bluff out unlike the outside. Hence the reason for the sealed caps in the first place.

Washed and put my license plate frame on!

Thank you! Do you recommend updating?

What version do you have now? If yours is still the original, yes. If you already have 12.5, no, I'd not pay the money.

It also depends on where you travel and how often you use the navigation. They have not moved the interstate highways, but the POIs have changed so it may be handy if you use that often. Before I moved, I'd only use the navigation maybe once every 6 weeks. Even then, maybe only the last couple of miles. When I first moved here I used it every day until I found my way around.

I probably have the original version. I only use mine for traffic. I never used the navigation in any of my cars. I always use my phone. However, I do like the new 3D look. I'll think about it.

Yes, if you have an older version like myself without the 3D maps. I am not sure if the change would be large enough from 12.5 or 13.0 to warrant the cost. However , in my case the price was worth it since it is also like I bought a newer radio due to the extra features I got from the update compared the 2015 orginal version I had.
