What did you pay for your brand new Genesis GV60?

If you go to the genesis USA web site and "build" an advanced model and then choose lease->change terms and scroll down to featured lease offer you can see an automatic $12,250 discount for 33 month lease. The discount for the performance model is something like $17K which really shrinks the price difference. I think you can even negotiate an additional discount off MSRP if the car has been sitting for a long time. But it only applies to cars already on the lot and the mid trim model has been the rarest for some reason

That wasn't the case when I purchased, but that was a year ago. In any case, that's the sort of information that is easily discoverable with a $10/month CarEdge subscription. You can not only see what any dealer has in stock, but even how long each car has been on the lot, and how the price for each car has changed over time (if it has). Note - I have no connection with CarEdge.
Wow, you have convinced me to join, that is impressive information they have. Thank you!

I thought when I first read this that he was full of it. But, I looked up my dealer and it shows no GV60s of any variety in stock. My dealer's sister company in a different suburb shows 1 advanced and 7 standard. There is a third dealer in the metro area and it shows 2 standard and 2 Performance. So with three dealers in the area, there is only one advanced showing.

Note that there are not a lot of GV60s in any form. They were never a big seller and I think that buyers who don't understand the difference between a vehicle designed from the ground up as an EV (GV60) and an ICE vehicle that has been electrified. I think most dealers and the public are heading to the GV70 Electrified as a choice. I much prefer the GV60 but different strokes for different folks.

Having said that, I adore my GV60P. The advanced should be a good model if you can find one but I would stay away from the standard (it only has 225 HP and it is a relatively heavy car). I have bought cars in the past where my local dealer didn't have what I wanted but it traded with another dealer. If you are considering the standard, make sure you take it on highway entrance ramps to see of it has adequate power for you. Another difference between the standard and Advanced is that the standard has rear wheel drive and the advanced has All wheel drive (motors on each axle) with a rear wheel drive bias.

I didn't choose Genesis because it was less expensive than Mercedes, BMW,etc. I chose it because it best met my needs and desires: a small vehicle (shorter than a GV70) with luxury (Nappa leather seats, ultrasuede headliner, lots of buttons and switches, etc.) and power (almost 500 HP). It also nicely met my secondary desires: a headup display, 360 cameras, etc.). It was essentially a unicorn.

Good luck.
I appreciate you letting me know that the Advanced is in short supply in your area too. One thing I should have mentioned before is that the Standard GV60 has both a RWD and AWD versions to choose from. The ones on the lot here in Portland, OR are all AWD according to the sales guy today. So, it may be that the main differences between the Standard AWD and Performance come down to HP, range, and type of seat covers. I have a Camry XLE right now, so I am thinking the HP I am used to is likely more similar to the Standard, but hard to know, as I haven't driven any fully electric vehicles yet. I have driven hybrids as rentals, but otherwise, I have an old fashioned gas car.

This is helpful information...I will check out the lease offers. I wouldn't want to keep a lease going for very long though as I have the cash to pay off the car, so it will depend on what makes the most sense financially. Thank you so much!

1/2025 Portland Oregon GV60 Performance $72,500 before rebates $55,000 after rebates for a 33 month lease. There was no rebate for purchasing it.

I didn't know that. I just looked it up and it appears that the standard AWD is similar to the Advanced without the music upgrade. So if you can take the base audio, the AWD Standard might be a good fit for you.

Your Camry has a lot less horsepower but it weighs less also. It looks to me like the GV60 AWD standard will have a bit more horsepower to weight ratio than the Camry so if you have been happy with the Camry's performance, you will likely be happy with the Standard AWD's performance.* With the AWD Standard you still get the HUD (if you don't have it on your Camry I predict you will love it). Here is a good page from the Genesis website comparing models:

It appears that compared to a Performance model major issues you will be missing: ; aluminum trim (I wish mine was missing that); 360 cameras; leatherette vs Nappa leather; digital key; upgraded audio; Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist. We are all different and what is important to one person is not to another. To me, the most important missing feature is the 360 cameras. You can tell someone has that feature when they are backing into or out of a parking space and are staring continuously at their info screen, not their rear view mirror. I have gotten completely used to and addicted to using the 360 camera view when parking. That is the one feature missing from the AWD Standard that is INCLUDED in the Advanced version.

*The RWD Standard has about the same horsepower as your Camry but it weighs about 50% more so it's performance will be significantly worse than what you have been getting from your Camry.

Well, given the substantial discount for leasing vs. buying one other thing to consider is to lease first and then pay cash after the end of the lease to buy it out. I think they specify exactly how much you can buy it for. But then after 33 months the used ones might be worth a lot less than the lease buyout which creates a new dilemma. Myself I'll probably do a '24 or '25 CPO when the time comes. There are 2 CPOs 2024 performance models in portland for around $50K barely used...

Other folks have figured out how to do the one pay lease (pay off the lease immediately) but I am not familiar with all the nuances of it....

I agree that the 360 camera is an awesome feature, I use it frequently, also the parking collision avoidance. I also use the cargo cover all the time, I imagine you can buy it separately but I suspect it is not cheap. The Standard trims don't have active noise cancellation, I haven't been in a GV60 that doesn't have it but I do like how quiet my Advanced is. The Standard trim is also missing heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats (the Standard does have heated seats). In Oregon maybe ventilated seats aren't needed, but the heated steering wheel is nice even here in Southern California.

Another feature the Standard doesn't have is the blind-spot monitor. I was really looking forward to having that, but to be honest, it's not very useful. So I wouldn't worry about missing out on that one.

One other note - the estimated EPA range of the Advanced is 248 miles. Good news - I get about 270 miles. I believe that is a real number based on actual trips I've taken. At 100% charge the car will sometimes claim it has over 300 miles range, but that's not realistic. But 270 is for real, at least in Southern California weather conditions (down to the 50s).

Thank you for sharing this! I sure appreciate it. It sounds like leasing may be the way to go if they still offer a rebate like this. How satisfied are you with your new vehicle? What led you to choose the Performance model?

You are a wealth of information, Steve! It does seem like I could very well be satisfied with the AWD Standard. I was hoping for leather seats, hence one of the reasons I was hoping to find an Advanced, but maybe Genesis uses good enough quality material, whether leather or not? My car doesn't have a HUD as it is a 2005. Can the 360 degree feature you like pick up pedestrians and cars to the left and right of the back of the car? If so, I could see where that would be a step above just a regular backup camera.

Right, lots to consider. I am gonna read up on the different lease options today. Are you also in the Portland area?

That's great to hear your range is further than what is advertised! You also bring up many features for me to consider between the three trims. I appreciate you!

Due to the vast difference between ICE-powered cars' and EVs' methods of deployment (power to the ground), you should investigate the actual performance specs to make valid performance-related decisions...i.e. your exact yr/model Camry vs whichever other car you are interested in.
Absent the research (even with it), I'll bet the first time you press the EV pedal you will be surprised...try to be ready for it.

Good points! I am sure hoping I like the feel of driving an all electric. I will definitely try to find the specs. Thank you!

That can be very helpful. Before I bought my Genesis I had a BMW. I planned to pay for it but there was a $4K financing credit from BMW. So I financed the car and then paid it off after four months (BMW will go after the dealer if you don['t wait at least three months). It is a little more complicated to buy out a lease but at least take a look at what @gvjim suggests.

I got the CarEdge subscription and put together a spreadsheet full of helpful information. I am happy to share it with anyone interested. It is rather shocking how many days most of the GV60s have been on the market at the Portland dealership. Some as many as 225. Also, the difference between the invoice and MSRP is not much. My husband suggests I just wait until 2026 and buy a 2025 that has been on their lot long enough, given how much these cars seem to go down in value. He has a point. So many things to consider!

the 2026 models are going to be facelifted, have NACS charging port, larger battery, new computers driving one big screen
etc so that means fire sale prices on the 25s so good call....

Sure sounds like it...but what if I like the 2026 even more!? :) I wonder what the facelift will look like. I do like the look of this year's model.

https://www.autoblog.com/news/2025-...ortier-look-and-a-supersized-dashboard-screen well if the price difference is $20K due to discounting, I can lease the 25 for 33 months and then pick up the facelifted one after that with hopefully another $20K discount... $70K is too much for this car IMO, but $50K yea it's great... Don't think I'd consider the base model, too much stuff taken out...

I know if they are behind me the system picks them up. For example, in a grocery parking lot, if I am in reverse and someone is approach my car from nearby it will make a noise to alert me and I will see them in the info screen. When I am backing up, I get two images: (1) the traditional back up with the parking lines showing and next to it which shows my car in relation to other cars, pillars, etc.

Look at the very top of the picture. That is very similar to what I see (there are many options available). On the left is the traditional backup but on the right is the car relative to other cars and objects. It is very, very useful to know when you are clear to start turning, etc.

You said you wanted an Advanced because of the leather seats (vs. the Standard). That kind of remark is why I was originally suggesting looking at a Performance Model. Not only do you get leather, you get Nappa leather and an ultrasuede headliner. Surprisingly, the comparative chart I gave you the link to suggests that the Advanced also gets the surround view package.

But there have been (the past doesn't always predict the present and the future) far more Performance models at dealers and therefore you might be able to get a Performance model for close to what you would pay for an Advanced model where the Performance model is one of several sitting on a dealer lot taking up space and inventory cost and the dealer would have to order an Advanced. While not quite as powerful, a few less features, and no ultrasuede headliner, but the Advanced does offer you what you are seeking including the The link I gave you earlier would show what you could get at the different levels. I looked at one local dealer here who had 8 GV60s and seven were RWD Standard and one was Advanced. But my local dealer showed zero GV60s in stock. So Genesis dealers may be rightsizing their inventory which would limit your bargaining power.

There is one more possibility. The third local dealer in the greater Phoenix area had until a few weeks ago (or yesterday) a 2023 GV60 Performance model for sale with a $17,500 discount. I knew enough to look because I had met an owner who told me had just scored this great deal. Presumably the discount was to cover the fact that the car was two model years old. At that time the dealer was showing two with each having a $15K discount. But if it is being sold as new, it would have to have the full warranties. I just checked and it is no longer there. It would take a lot of searching but there might be other dealers out there that have similar offers to get rid of old but new cars. You would have to probably have it shipped to you unless you lucked out and it was from a site where you could drive it home. And unless you were prepared to purchase it sight unseen with no test drive to determine why it might have been unable to sell for so long you would be risking a major problem unless you went there first to inspect the vehicle. That would add a trip and the related cost to the price.

Good luck.

Lots of good information here, thank you Steve! I will let you know how my experience tomorrow goes in test driving.

You will love it! I've had mine for almost a year and it's still a bit of a thrill to go to the grocery store - let alone longer trips 😁
Can the 360 degree feature you like pick up pedestrians and cars to the left and right of the back of the car?
I find what the 360 camera is really good for is parallel parking. You can really tell where you are relative to the curb.

It doesn't really have the range to pick up pedestrians or cars. It's mostly about what's within a foot or so of the car. For seeing pedestrians and cars you'll use the regular camera, and also the radar sensors.
