  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How long does that cover you for? Here is CT registration is $90 for two years. We do pay property tax on cars though and my G80 is about $600 for the first year and declines with blue book value.

Good for one year, but no property tax. So sounds about the same. With the new tax law, and a couple getting a standard deduction fo $24K, your $600 probably won't be a deduction unless you can climb above $24K.

Lease was $50425 capitalized cost. MSRP $56435. $2000 down. Residual-54% ($30453), Lease money factor-.00036 or .864%. Absorbed last two payments on my 2015 and first payment on new car. Lease for 36 mos @ $584/mo. SC registration fee. $57.50. Initial sales tax-$500. Property tax approx. $800.

Hello All!

I'm new to the forum as I have been lurking while looking into a CPO 2015-2016 Genesis Sedan. I was leaning towards a Tech Package with 30k miles give or take, because the Nav System can be updated to include Apple CarPlay. I currently drive a 2014 Azera with the Tech Package. It's paid for, so this is a big purchase for me.

Today, last day of the month, my local dealer offered me a deal on a Service Loaner 2018 Genesis G80 3.8 AWD base. The loaner has 3000 miles, but has never been titled as a new car so I would be the original owner. It's been used by the dealership as their concierge vehicle, so the warranty would start at my originating mileage.

$490 per month/48 months = $23,520
$3000 down = $26,520
Trade-in value = $11,500 (I've received this from 2 other dealers, so it's reliable).

So by my calculations, they're selling me the service loaner for $38,020 out the door. Tax, Title, Fees included.

I'm giving up the sunroof, premium sound system, and parking sensors from the Azera. But, I'm getting 3 years of full concierge/service, 3 years of connected app service, all of the safety features (lane deviation, blind spot, adaptive cruise, etc.) and the full warranty Genesis provides from the starting mileage point.

Am I nuts or is this a deal I can't pass up? Should I wait for a low mileage '15 Tech?

Please, any input would be appreciated...I have to pull the pin or trigger on this Monday night. :-)

You didn't indicate the sticker price of the new Genesis, which is needed to figure out if it's a good deal. Google says sticker for a 2018 G80 AWD base, should be around 44K, so minus the 38020, you listed as payments, is around a $5920 discount, Ok to good but not a great deal considering the 3000 miles on the car. I don't see how that is an out the door price. What are your taxes and registration etc? Or are you saying, in addition, the dealer agreed to cover all taxes and fees? That would be a strange way of doing things but would make it an excellent deal.

Sorry, I missed that part...Window sticker is $45,440. My total calculated "Out the door" price includes Tax (5.5% or $1293.50), Title ($85), Freight ($975), and Dealer Fees ($440).

So, the $38020 includes $2793.50 of transaction "cost".

I can't speak to your deal. However, you need to confirm, in writing, that the dealer is providing concierge service on a 2015-2016 Genesis. My dealer advised only 2017 and newer models qualify for the concierge service.

Sounds like a good deal! What are the trim/options? I understand that the 2018 basic is less basic than the 2015. Is that right?
I went thru Truecar (a good start but not the best price) and it is clear that the brand success shrank discounts. Back to 2015, when I leased my G2, discounts were huge. (reflecting high inventories and effort to stabilize the high end Hyundays)
They obviously succeeded!

Wondering if I got taken after reading some of these deals. I just purchased a 2018 AWD G80 base version (no sun roof, etc.) for 41,800 (before taxes). There was no trade in. It was about the TrueCar value, so I felt decent about it.

This is a dangerous forum thread to read!

Sticker for my 2018 G80 Sport AWD was $58,770 plus $299 doc fee no taxes in my state so out the door was $52,212.

This isn't a crazy deal or anything, just wanted to contribute to the thread. I purchased March 2018 in central TX. Brand new 2018 Genesis G80 5.0l Ultimate AWD.

MSRP: $60,380
Rebates: $3,000
Vehicle Price: $57,380

I'm not going to focus on OTD since there are too many variables. But some relevant notes:
  • This was basically the last loaded AWD V8 in TX, which they traded another dealer for.
  • They don't use hidden "dealer adds" (i.e. Addendum's) to artificially inflate savings off MSRP.
  • Rebates required balloon financing through Hyundai; it was low interest and will be easy to refinance.
  • I pushed them harder on the trade to help with taxes. That's important.
  • And yeah, could have saved a lot by going with a 2017, but I wanted android auto, dammit. ;)

After shopping my trade at 3 other dealers, it was overall a solid offer. In TX you only pay taxes on net purchase price. This helped a ton. Snagged an extended Hyundai warranty and off I go!

EDIT: Should also note I later found out the original dealer had put on Tint, Interior/Exterior protection (i.e. Scotch-guard/Wax), Nitrogen, and Security Etching. Or $1,896 in dealer installed options. I laughed a bit. But my dealer never mentioned or noted this anywhere other than the free tint they discovered when it arrived. Even though it's mostly smoke, still a nice added bonus I suppose.

Any new and recent purchase prices? I'm actively searching and have been quoted $52-54k OTD for AWD g80 sport.

I was right in the middle of that range last month. I bumped it up a little after that to add an XPEL clear bra and window tinting.

New 2018 Genesis G80 AWD Sport

MSRP: $59060
SALE: $45399.40
FINAL: $48818.96 (OTD)

I think I did good. Going to get clear bra and tinted windows, so add another $2k. 😀

Acn,
Good? no I would say you did great! Unless you are a Hyundai employee I have yet to see anyone get a brand new 18' Sport for under 50k, let alone $45,399! Believe me, if I could have gotten anywhere close to that I would have pulled the trigger in a heartbeat. Instead I grabbed a base model 18' g80 for what at the time (August 17) that I thought was a very good price ($36,738 plust tt&l). Anyway, congratulations and I am sure you will enjoy your sport.
John

Really $45K?? That's incredible, there is no way the dealer made a dime. It's not missing an engine or something?

How did you manage to go from 52-54k to 49k OTD? That's abaut 25% discount over MSRP, not even used cars are that low.
