  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

How did you manage to go from 52-54k to 49k OTD? That's abaut 25% discount over MSRP, not even used cars are that low.

I emailed about 20 dealers who had the car I was looking for. Asked for best OTD price and went from there. About half played ball right away; half asked dumb questions and wanted me to come in without answering the question. Eventually, the dealer I bought the car had a special genesis rebate program for the state that priced the car with employee pricing. So I jumped on it right away. Took 3 days from first email to deposit with the dealer. Picking up the car next week as I have to fly out to get it.

Mind sharing what dealer or at least state?

Michigan. Deal ends this month, however, my suspicion is that it's been going on for a while and will probably be continued (someone on like page 4-5 had a great deal like this in MI). PM me if you want more info.

Hello to all.

I have been looking to pick up a G80 Sport since they were released. Not soon after the tease of the G70 arrived with the 3.3T model made me pause until I have recently seen G80 Sport advertised prices as low as 51k for RWD. Its bigger and much heavier than the G70 (hard time believing 0-60 in 5.1 when the much lighter and agile G70 is only a half a second faster).

How realistic is 50k out the door? I have seen two 2018 listed at 45k & 46k at dealers with between 5k & 10k miles. KBB listed average trade in values at $42k with private sale at $48k.

I will buy right now at 50k OTD. If not, wait to drive the G70 3.3T and drop about the same.

Thoughts?

Do you know of any other states that have that deal currently

Everyone seems to want the out the door price. Unless you reside in the same state as the poster, the OTD figure isn't of much use, as taxes, registration fees etc. vary widely. All I am interested in is the sticker price, then the actual paid figure, after discounts and incentives, but before trade in values, local /state taxes and fees. I will provide my own taxes and fees, if I wish an OTD figure. This seems the only reasonable way to compare the deal, across state lines.

RWD Sport at $50K is possible but going to take some work and maybe go out of state. I did $52K AWD Sport. In MA a Genesis dealer did have a White AWD for less than $50K but it's gone now.

I agree that OTD prices vary based on states, however, unless you live in a 0% state, the price won't fluctuate $2-3k to make a difference. You're probably taking about less than $1k.

I had one dealer that was sneaky and told me OTD was $52k. I called them and they said "their" OTD was 52 and "mine" was plus tax since I lived in another state. This was frustrating as I gave them my state for tax purposes. Needless to say, I sent them the $48 OTD that I signed for.

Completely Agree on this! ...... As I am buying my Car in Illinois on Monday..... Whoopeee No sales tax, until I get back to Minnesota. :-( .... Although the Document Fee I have to Pay in Illinois -- I think that's higher than Minnesota.

Sure AWD Ultimate Package -- Silver Exterior - Black Leather -- Rosen Hyundai Algonquin Illinois. - Sticker $55,640 -- Paid $49,250 (After incentives, Military Discount etc.)
Compliments of It2211 for the referral to Jon Muehl of Rosen.

I purchased mine from Rosen as well and Jon was my salesman. I would recommend him.

Agreed, in my 55+ years as a car buyer, Jon was the only car salesman I trusted and felt I got a good deal. I would certainly give Jon at Rosen Genesis a call and ask for a price, if you are interested in a new Genesis, compare to your local offers. That's what convinced me.

bought 2018 g80 5.0 ultimate awd last month in Michigan.
MSRP, which included freight/handling and accessories, was 60,690.
sales taxes and processing fees and title were 3292.
I paid 49,700 (16,000 of which was for my trade in) out the door (that includes all taxes, fees, registration, freight, accessories and the car) -- or about 46,400 (49700 less 3292) for the car/accesssories and freight -- 14,290 less than msrp.
As a Michigan resident I was told I was eligible for 'employee pricing' which included a 7900 rebate. That 7900 rebate was taken off a 'price of vehicle' (on the invoice) of 54,359. Why 54359? I didn't understand, but I was satisfied getting out the door paying 33,700 plus trade in.
The car is a beauty -- smooth and powerful.

Yes, that employee pricing for Michigan residents, is a huge benefit (around 13% off MSRP) It has never been clear to me, why only Michigan residents are blessed with this great offer. My guess, it has something to do with Detroit being US Motor City, for US cars, and Genesis wanted a bunch G80's running around there. :) If you take the $7900 off the $14290 you get $6390. About what you might find as a discount else where in the US. You got a great deal because you lived in Michigan. Congrats!!! The $54,359 is likely dealer cost.

Here is what I can find so far for a new (2018) G80 sport AWD

MSRP: 59535 (Dealer added $500 worth of BS)
Internet savings $8,195
Total w/ internet savings $51,340
Uber Rebate : $1000
Boost Up: $500
Price (After rebates): $49,840

TTL + Dealer fee ($599) = ~$2200 Taxes is base in NC (3%)

So the OTD is about $52,000 new 44 miles on the car.

What I notice is the longer the car been on the lot the more willing they will discount. I notice a few has a manufacture date in March and April of 2017 in which the discount wasn't hard to get.

Anyway, still looking......

So it's a 2017 ?

That makes a difference on the discounts.
