  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

The 6k lease cash makes it palatable, $47,597 for AWD is good for a 2018. This late in the year thinking one can do better. Picked mine up in May G80 sport RWD no lease $48,599 before taxes and fees.

I remember reading about your deal, you did great. Unfortunately the dealers do not seem to be pricing as we think they should be at this time of the year. They have actually increased their pricing and are being very stingy with discounts. I was thinking it was because of the current dealer situation but someone here got a quote for very little discount on a 2018 from a dealer who has 2019s. Not really sure what it going on. Prospective G80 did a great deal of 4.7% or so off plus incentive for a 2019 in a rare, I guess you could say, color. Some have posted quotes for 2018s with mileage that don't come close to that.

Wow. That’s incomprehensible. No knowledgeable buyer will pay 2019 prices for a 2018 model with less than 60 days remaining in 2018. Dealers are posturing. Push back, walk out and be sure to note the build date on that 2018. Most likely it’s built in 2017. TWO YEARS AGO. Facts are stubborn things.

And the stubborn facts contradict what you are saying.

I agree, I think 50k+ is still high for a MY 18 G80 Sport AWD. I'm aiming for something below that and not be a used "exec" car. Even if I don't count that bogus charge from the dealer, 50k+for a car with a few thousand miles on the odo and this close to end of year with the 2019's out is too much.

So that isn't new with few miles? Didn't realize from the sheet it was an exec car. Ignore my good deal comments then.

Let me try to simplify this for you: Assume you're going to keep the car for exactly three years. In one example, you lease it and turn it back in. In the second example, you purchase it and finance it with your 1.9% loan, and then sell it for the RV of $29k after three years. How much have you paid in interest charges over the three-year period that you "owned" the car in both cases?

Hint: It's the exact same amounts that we've been discussing all along: $942 & $1,548.

You are forgetting the 750 for the acquisition fee and the disposition of 400. You need to include those since they are costs only associated with acquiring the lease. In this scenario, as far as interest/fees are concerned, it would be quite a bit cheaper to finance the car for three years. There could be a sales tax disadvantage depending where you live though to offset those.

To answer your question:

Loan: 1,548
Lease: 2,092

My post was not comparing leasing versus purchasing, I just thought it would be interesting to look at the effective interest rate in that scenario. While the above is accurate, cost is only one of numerous factors a person may use to decide whether to lease or purchase. I think we are beating a dead horse at this point. :drinks:

Re: attachment - finally some numbers - thx bthor

Drunk posting.

Sorry you don’t like what you hear. You can keep denying but the buying prices and discounts are there and don’t support your argument. Just keep telling people to wait and walk and see what happens. Yes eventually the price will drop but the car will be a lo5 older or used. Too bad I had to spell it out for you but at least you got to denigrate without any basis my post.

What I paid for the car 6 months ago is a fact with a document to support it. That was then and this is now. I’m only sharing my experience on a thread that is clearly asking for this information. Cars will continue to depreciate and incentives will change. What people pay or not pay is their decision. Outside of the facts are opinions. My opinion is one can do better.

My comments were in no way a personal attack, unlike yours. Show some class. You’re a SUPPORTING MEMBER.

Funny how quickly folks are quick to point a finger but don’t like it when it’s pointed back. 😊

So I thought I would share my experience here in Las Vegas. Just got back from looking at a 2018 G80 Sport listed as “New” and has been sitting on the lot since at least April and the GM drove it. I arrived to look at the “New” car and was told, oh this was a Demo car and it has 3750 miles on it. I said, then you better give me one hell of deal. I get in the car and the passenger seat already shows signs of wear. Now get this, for a used “Demo” car, wait for it, $63K! I said, you’re joking right? Oh but the GM lives only two miles away and that’s it. I said, I wouldn’t buy that for 0 miles on it. So I go on Edmunds, see people pay about 54K with invoice of 52K in my area. Sport ones online with similar used mileage 3-5K in mileage
for 46K-48K. I said, clearly the GM wants to continue driving the car. Pretty disappointing considering the 2019’s are already on the lot in Henderson. Here is a screenshot from the Car Gurus app of the price history of said vehicle.

^ That is crazy. For some reason the dealers are just not connected to reality with the pricing of the 2018s.

They don't have to be till the 2019's show up--supply & demand---

The 2019s are already in Nevada and other people here have gone to dealers with 2019s on their lot and they weren't discounting much at all on the 2018s.

That really shouldn't have any effect on things in a local area if there is a supply nearby. I'm hoping that the prices drop nationwide thought when availability is up.
