  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

2018 G80 3.8L AWD
$45,440 MSRP
Negotiated price down to $41288 then used that price for the lease/purchase option to get an additional $5800 lease cash. No money down and drove the car home. Bought the car outright 2 weeks later for $38,627. That is OTD with all taxes and fees.

Nice negotiation tactic. You should be arrested for stealing that car from the dealer. ;)

When you bought the car, did it have a lot of miles on it or was it truly new (i.e. not an "exec" car or a test drive/loaner)?

Could you share what the fees were for doing the lease to own process? What state are you in? I am considering doing that if I can get a dealer to actually want to negotiate. Thanks!

Sure. The car did have 1108 miles on it but hadn't been previously titled. I'm out of town so these are ballpark. I'm in Virginia so sales tax was $1600. First month lease payment was $537. Other miscellaneous fees make up the rest. In a normal lease, one would be required to put down a security deposit, taxes and first months payment as a cash downpayment. Because Genesis offers the lease cash, it doesn't require you to put down money, but you do pay those items, just not cash down toward them. I was skeptical at first but it was pretty straight forward. I signed all the papers and drove the car home without paying anything. A week or so later I received an email stating my account was all set up. I called and verified the amount ($38,627) to purchase it and sent them a check.

Thank you, I appreciate the info. Now let's see if I can find a good dealer (ha).

@BrainDoc I don't know if it is still available since I didn't see it on their site but Webb has a new one with 60 miles listed for $5,322 off MSRP. Maybe get them down a little but with the $6k cash that would be a good deal as is.

Thank you. I contacted them but it has a few thousand miles and refused to knock anything off unfortunately.

Do you mean off the listed price of $53,673 or are they not really selling for that price?

Unfortunately, yes. Thank you for checking. I reached out to them again today to verify. No word yet.

In case anyone comes across one and is willing to share with me, this is what I am looking for:

- 2018 G80 Sport AWD
- new and not an "exec" or loaner car
- no miles
- Casablanca white exterior
- Grey color interior

Looks like there are only 8 left in the country with that color combination and at least three are demo/exec cars.

Yeah the more and more I look the more and more I am thinking I may just have to get a 2019. Ugh.

Now I understand why you are having such a hard time. Your combination was my first choice and its very rare. I gave up and ended up getting white / Black interior.

haha, yeah, I see that now. I spoke to a dealer today via email that said "current incentives run until December 3rd" so theoretically they should get even more competitive after that?

It sounds like there aren't that many good deals going around on the 2018 models for some reason. Do you guys recommend that I wait? I've been looking for a 2018 G80 3.8L Ultimate in Washington. I found a color combo that I liked and they had it listed for $55,615. They offered to give me $4,000 discount and that was it. Even more ridiculous was the lease "deal" they offered me. $785 ($699 + tax) a month with no money down and only 10k miles/year. What do you think would be a decent deal on 2018 3.8L Ultimate model?

That discount sounds about right compared to what they are offering here.

Then you should get the $6000.00 lease money on that. However they are very funny about this. If they give you the lease money then they seam to want full price for the car.

(On the car I was looking at they actually wanted $1000.00 over list price if they gave me the lease money and told me it was a $9000 savings. (What they don't tell you is that they are the ones saving the $9000.) This is not fair to the customer at all. At the very least they should split that discount with the customer and give them the full lease money which would make it a win win.

It seams like they are trying to screw both Hyundai and the customers as much as they can and maybe that is their job.

Here is the deal I was just offered on a Sport AWD.
$20,000 for my car (which is what they offered me for it at CarMax.) $5101 cash payment from me and the $6000 in lease money for a 36/15000 lease then 28,800 to purchase the car. That comes out to $59901. And they are telling me that this is a $9000 savings. This is before taxes and fees. The list price on the car is 58,925 and they have it listed for 57,170. So I am trying to figure out where I am saving $9000? I'm actually only saving $4000 with $6000 in lease money.

That discount isn't bad given what we have been seeing. If you don't have some type if payoff going on then they are really screwing around with the lease numbers. In order to make sure things are above board, post a request on the Edmunds forum (link below) to get the current MF, RV and incentives for the model you are looking at. Once you have those then it should be fairly easy to calculate what the monthly price will be. Just ball parking it, I would say it should be around $500 a month.

$6200 lease cash

I guess lease cash went up by $200?

Are the dealers offering these “deals” on the 2018 leftovers future Genesis dealers or bitter Hyundai dealers having no skin in the game on the future of Genesis?
