  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

Waiting on the red one to buy. Never leased before. Is there a minimum amount of time you have to wait to buy? What is your payoff price? May do the same if I can get it.
I'm not a math major, but looks like my OTD is $66,698. Wtf, IL/Chicago taxes 10.5%! It saves me $2831 on a purchase.

Have to laugh- internet salesman emailed me he now has a base car (should be no sunroof and leatherette interior) but his has anthracite/beige Nappa premium leather interior. He quoted me the same out the door price even though new car he's quoting has a window sticker $595 less than the original car he quoted me. And we wonder why we can't trust car salesmen any farther than we can spit them! ;-)

Ask him to provide the VIN and a note in writing that he'll sell that car for that price... watch how things change!

Some times the car color itself will bring more money. I see it quite often. If that is the case. Of course, there is always the bait and switch tactics by dealers/sales people also. I am sure many people accept it and just give the dealer more money to deposit.

My 2015 Genesis just got totaled on Monday. I’m still waiting for what the insurance company is going to pay me. I got it in May of 2014 just after that model was released and negotiated almost 10% off of MSRP. From $46ish thousand down to about $42k.

unfortunately I now need to buy a new car in somewhat of a hurry and am thinking of getting a G80. 2.5 RWD in either the Advance or Prestige Trim. I’m not super excited to hear that getting lower than MSRP is somewhat difficult. I’m in South Florida and bought mine in coconut creek almost 7 yrs ago. I am going to start looking around and see what I can get done. The information on here is very helpful.

Sorry about your misfortune. It will be quite an upgrade, but it's going to cost you. Good luck with the negotiations.

Thanks. I was looking on Truecar and the advance model shows a lot of recent sales in the $49-50k range on an MSRP of $53,800 for about a 6.5% discount. Similar discount on the base as well.

I walked into the dealer this morning to take a look at the 3 2.5L Trims and it would be between the advance and prestige for me.

Still waiting for the payout on my ‘15 but I will unfortunately need to pull the trigger reasonably fast.

That's good there's some movement on the price. I knew I was going to pay list since I was getting it as soon as it arrived. I didn't pay any other fees on top of the list, though, so it translated to somewhat of a discount. Good luck!

Just as an update I spent a lot of yesterday morning shopping around 2.5 RWD Advanced and Prestige cars. I’m in S. Florida so everything is pretty much RWD.
I have 2 dealers that have offered fairly substantial discounts. $3,000 on the prestige version of the the 2.5 and $5,300 at another dealer. That put the out the door price between $57,500 and $60,200 for cars with an MSRP of $58,025. I’m going to try and finalize the better deal this morning.

the payout on my 2015 Genesis Tech with 72,000 miles came in at $16,500 which is fine.

Very helpful information. Thank you.
I look forward to hearing the final price you pay.

Ok just got home with my new G80. I am really excited. The car is beautiful and drives like a dream. I ended getting a spectacular price. This was a Black on Black 2.5 Advance and Prestige. The MSRP for the vehicle is $58,025. The sales price we agreed on was $51,600 which led to an out the door price of $56,413.

this price includes a $998 dealer fee which is very high but the price is very low so even if you just add it to the sales price it is still an insanely good price.

the finance guy pitched me the extended warranty. These are not really negotiable in Florida but he cut purchase price to $51,400 and he cut the financing from 2.99% to 2.59% for 72 mos. With this I paid $58,569.83 out the door including the extended warranty and he let me swipe the down payment of $6,000 on my credit card for the points. I will pay that down next week when the insurance payout comes in.

I am happy to answer any questions.

I'm curious what the extended warranty gets you on a new car with a 10 year drivetrain warranty.

My biggest concern was a lot of the electronics. This will be my fifth car and I have averaged 7 years per car before this. The amount of electronics that have been added to cars over the years is amazing. My 95 Mustang had almost nothing to breakdown. It ran 10 years with almost no repairs. The 15 Genesis had quite a few expensive issues that popped up post warranty expiration. Two window motors, an issue with the AC compressor, an issue with the electronics related to the passenger side airbags and most recently the control of the anti lock breaking system.

I think it's 5yr/60k b2b (except battery, freon, tires, etc) and 10yr/100k drivetrain. How long was yours extended?

That's still a $5,427 discount, which is the best I've heard. The highest discount I saw on autotrader was $4,200 on a RWD 3.5T Prestige, which is the one I'm considering. I suppose you could get an even bigger discount on those, since they're more expensive, and harder to sell, I think. You did great :).

10 years/100k. I think I would have easily gotten my money’s worth on the 15 Genesis if I had the extended warranty. We will see.

Thanks. I was hoping to be at $54k out the door on the car for the advance so the prestige at a little over $56k is great. Very happy this morning. Car is great.
