  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your new Genesis GV70?

nice, where are you located? and what shipper did you use? trying to see how much it would be to ship to TX.
WA state, with SGT Transport, their website has accurate quotes

I'm here in Central FL, and am getting a bit frustrated with dealers wanting to charge $5,000+ market adjustment fees, plus $800+ dealer fees. I'm buying at full sticker price....they're getting their profit.
Why not just find one out of area for MSRP and pay to ship it?

Please share with us prospective buyers what you paid for your GV70. Not so much interested in out the door price because every state is different on taxes, trade ins, etc. More interested in the amount you paid over MSRP, MSRP or under MSRP. Thanks for sharing.
My dealer had a $6000 markup over MSRP because of demand. In negotiations however they gave us a very good premium for our trade in, which cancelled out the markup and got us a bit below MSRP. They also gave us a 10yr/100,000 mile bumper to bumper minus the tires warranty. Plus something they call the family plan. Let just say when we walked out of the dealership I felt like both the sales team and myself made out good on this deal.

Anyone paying under MSRP in Florida?
With the value of my trade in it made the price on my GV70 under MSRP plus some. They gave me $40,000 for my trade in plus taxes lowered because I had a trade in. I recommend everyone look on CarMax and CarGurus to get a quote in advance for their trade in. We went in with that and they matched it plus some. Plus they gave me their family plan as well as 10yrs/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty minus the tires. I went to Hyundai/Genesis of Orange Park, Jacksonville, FL

IMO, that "Family Plan" is a good list of the classic dealer add-on's that are worth virtually nothing to the consumer, but is what they use to justify their pricing structure.

Regardless, as long as your happy, that's all that matters.

Congrats on the new vehicle.

Exactly there is a local dealer getting $5k over with this little added sticker of "special" add-ons

Guys, I'm struggling with this "Market Adjustment" fee. I've found the exact GV70 I want, and my rep at the dealer has been helpful and responsive. (I've put a $1,000 fully refundable deposit on it) But they want a $5,000 market fee that they say is non negotiable.

I'm willing to pay sticker, plus their $800 dealer doc prep fee. (plus tax, tags, title) However I have a real problem with paying over MSRP.

Has anyone else been in this situation, and been able to negotiate down to MSRP? I also don't want any add-ons....extra warranty, VIN etching, blah, blah.

I want this simple....give me a fair market price for my trade in, I'll pay MSRP plus your $800 dealer fee, and the deal is done. Nothing more, nothing less. Why can't it be this easy?

Perhaps it becomes negotiable if you ask for the deposit back. Some here have had their shipped in or travelled a long distance to a dealer that sold at fair price.

To answer your question why . . .Greed.

It's simple if people stopped paying over sticker dealers would stop selling them over sticker.

You can try this ping every dealer in a radius you are comfortable in i.e 100 miles and tell them what you want and will buy it today for MSRP. Also check their websites and check their inventory every week and again if you see one you like email them and tell them you want this car but will only pay MSRP. Sooner or later you will find one. It took me 5 months.

Agreed. Is there any easy way to access car sales data for the month of December? I truly wonder if the market is slowing, and if consumer's tolerance for Adjustment fees is going down?

Start emailing other dealers. Even if you have to pay to ship one from out of state, that’s generally less than $1000. Or fly somewhere cheap and drive one home. Either way you’re well ahead of a bogus markup fee. It must vary by region, but here in Ohio I only found one dealer marking them up. All others are MSRP.

Maybe if you post what you’re looking for, someone who will know of one available at MSRP.

Good point. The GV70 I'm looking for is:

- 2.5
- Advanced Trim
- Brunswick Green exterior. (Adriatic Blue is 2nd choice) (White is 3rd)
- Havana Brown interior.

I feel ya. All the dealers here want $3000-$5000 over MSRP. It’s absurd. If you’re buying a car at MSRP the dealer is already making quite a hefty profit.

Wonder if dealers are still accepting Circle A pricing for that eliminates most of the BS pricing games and markups. We used to have members here who had access to Circle pricing and helped many of us at that time save money. With the markup dealers are getting now, Circle pricing could shut that door assuming dealers are accepting such?

Should be lots of info here on that dating back a year or more. Short story it’s employee like pricing. They have friends and family ‘A‘ type pricing as well as direct HMC employee pricing with really deep discounts. You need a PIN number and sponsor basically to be eligible for any of this special pricing though. I saved over $7k off MSRP back at my G70 purchase with Circle A and rebates at the time.

I found an advanced, blue with havana brown interior in arlington, ma (genesis of arlington). It's still in transit (probably arriving within a month). I put a deposit on a gv70 and waiting for it to arrive soon. They are willing to sell it for MSRP (mass resident atleast, not sure for out of state). Probably worth a shot to call them. Sorry, I don't know how to send a private message. Hope it helps.

Wait, so did they give you $6,000 more for your trade in, compared to what CarMax or someone like that would have given?

Went to genesis of denton in Dallas, Texas regarding 2.5T Sport prestige package Adriatic blue colour. Its ridiculous that they are selling for MSRP+ $3000. and with taxes and registration is it coming around $62,000 Has anyone had luck in buying at any other dealerships for MSRP in and around dallas, texas?

Wait, so did they give you $6,000 more for your trade in, compared to what CarMax or someone like that would have given?
CarMax was offering $39,000 and CarGurus offered $38,500 for my van. I showed the dealer what CarMax and what CarGurus was offering, the dealer originally wanted to give me $34,500 for it but they ended up giving me $40,000 for it and reading it in for a new car saved me close to $2,500 taxes. So basically my new GV70 was financed for the difference. We also put and additional $8,000 down. So finances not to much. Hope this helps. The MSRP was $54,750 and the dealer markup was $6,000 which made it a total of $60,750 minus what the trade in and money down was. I say with the used car market being so hot now everyone should see what CarMax, CarGurus, and Carvana will give them for a used car and see if the dealer will match it.
