If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. What do you carry for self defense?

Re: What do you carry for self defense

I was starting to worry about road rage as it seems to be quite rampant and gettting worse all the time so I asked a good friend of mine what I needed. He said a 9mm, shells and a few clips. Went out and got this which now resides in my trunk. Did I do well? :D

Have you ever considered a "Trunk Monkey"? Do they have "Trunk Monkeys" in Canada?:D

Live in a better neighborhood.

And/or avoid bad neighborhoods.

I personally carry a Glock 19, but am considering getting a Glock 26 or 27 for easier concealment. My G19 has been extremely reliable, but do consider other makes as the quality across the board is solid.

Love this thread and I'm amazed it's gotten to page 3 without totally degenerating into an argument about the pros and cons of carrying a weapon in your car, and which weapon is best. I go to my gun forums for those endless arguments. Personally, if I carried a gun in my car, it would be for the same reason I slept with a teddy bear when I was 3 years old.

I keep hk45c in arm rest compartment and colt mustang in pocket...I doubt my pants could hold up my desert eagle lol. I have recently put my sbr form in atf for my scorpion evo! I'll make it my trunk emergency gun.

Re: What do you carry for self defense

The best carry gun is the same one you carry with you everywhere you go. 380 acp is what I use for conceal carry, I joke about my deagle because you never know when a grizzly will try and rape you!!! Poor poor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Same.

Some interesting assumptions about demographics and personal habits in here, but as the majority are made by people who bought 2nd Gen sedans, or basically live off our poutine, I assign appropriate weight to the comments. :p

Re: What do you carry for self defense

Depends on what I'm wearing, where I'm going and how deeply do I need to conceal... if at all (just to stir the pot a bit).

most often I am carrying my Springfield XDs in .45 ACP. usually with the larger magazine, but will carry the shorty magazine as the primary if needed.

Other times, I will grab my S&W 442 in 38 +p. This is a great firearm, and while only slightly wider than the Springfield, it is hammer less, light weight, fits in a pocket (with a proper pocket holster to cover the trigger guard of course). This thing is a cannon with the right rounds, and I do not feel "under gunned" when this is used sole as a primary defense weapon.

When going to an from range / practice sessions, matches, teaching assignments, I am known to carry my Kimber TLE II. This is my favorite to fire, but is more cumbersome to conceal than any of the above. Trigger is beautiful, night sights are crisp, operation is flawless. well over 60,00 rounds out of this firearm - all but 4 failed to go bang (they were ammo reload related)... great gun. I can conceal with an un-tucked shirt (Hawaiian etc) but the GF doesn't like me wearing those as much. I do take it in a fanny pack when wearing shorts sometimes - or the Springfield XDs.

I used to carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II - ALL THE TIME - operationally it was the same as the TLE II. I liked the fact that I can compete with one gun and carry the smaller version for Self Defense There were some issues with the / my firearm that I could not over come (several trips back to Kimber for a cracked frame, fail to feed...etc... I was not unaccustomed to tweaking a 1911 to make them work reliably) was unreliable in my mind as a carry gun... Ok for a range gun that I can work on failure drills...but not one I could trust to go bang all the time when I needed it to... so I got rid of it.

Have a slew of other carry options... but the XDs and 442 are my preferred CC options.

Re: What do you carry for self defense

The last guns I carried in my vehicle were a Colt .45 auto AND a sawed-off shotgun AND an M-16 AND an M-79 grenade launcher AND two ARVN Noncoms. This was in my jeep when I had to make runs between Cu Chi and Tay Nihn, and couldn't get a Huey.

Since then, I somehow just haven't felt like it. When our local Sheriff recently said everyone should carry, I started researching a move to Australia.

Re: What do you carry for self defense

Although enlightening reading about how well-armed some Genesis owners are, does this thread belong in the Off Topic Lounge? Just saying...

Re: What do you carry for self defense

Probably however I only come to the 2015 section. I think it's been over a year + since I visited elsewhere on this site.

If it can be found anywhere, the Glock 43 is nice and made for concealed carry.

Re: What do you carry for self defense

I carry a Glock 19 G4 on my person some of the time depending on where I am going. Really need something a tad smaller for concealed (I am permitted) but I have done so much work on my gun and got it perfect that I really hate using anything else.
