  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What do you want Genesis to do?

The waiting room is decent, not close to the Mercedes benz (my other vehicle) feel and experience.
Yes, that is a good thing. My Hyundai/Genesis dealer waiting area much more comfortable, spacious, welcoming than the MB dealer.

There should be 50 (new, not in temporary digs) standalone dealerships by the 1st half of next year with another 100 currently in various stages of planning.

Again, want to emphasize that having a new, separate facilities is no guarantee of better/good service if the ownership stinks.

There are ownership groups that own a variety of brands (including luxury) and they often all stink or are all pretty good.

Genesis really needs to put the foot down on franchisees to improve service whether they have a fully standalone dealership, have semi separate store (separate showroom/waiting area but sharing service bays) or continue to sell Genesis from Hyundai dealerships - would threaten to pull franchise if service scores don't meet a certain threshold.

The GV60 looks to be a dud and regardless of whether Genesis continues with an electric G70 replacement, would add 1, if not 2, boxy, more rugged CUVs.

One btwn the size of the GV70 and GV80 and another to replace the GV60.

Would also plan on selling the ICE models for longer than currently slated by adding a hybrid powertrain (the upcoming 2.5T hybrid would be perfect).

I'm late to the party. As has now been mentioned ad nauseam, standalone dealerships must be priority number 1. Anyone coming from another luxury brand is going to be shocked and disappointed in the lack of service dedicated to this luxury brand. Having one certified tech to work on your Genesis when they also have to service a Hyundai car, is sad. The brick and mortars must be top on the list prior to any new car development, or eventually people will spend their money elsewhere.

Really wished they made the original ICE version a hybrid instead of just fully gas similar to Lexus.
Everywhere receiving the NFC card and fingerprint start would be cool. Also dash cam to be enabled. Would be nice to see GenesisPay for North America instead of just their Korean market. They advertised the heck out of those features before the launch for it not to make it's way to most of us.
A much better Genesis Connected Service experience. The app moves slower than my 101 year old grandma. I'm starting to feel the app is quite useless but I already knew it was painful to use.

Hi, I go to a combo Hyundai Genesis dealership. The service is great. I have owned Hyundai's before, and the service was great. I have owned and Audi, a BMW and a Acura, and the service has been great for those cars too. I don't care what sign in on the building as long as I get great service. So for me, this is a non issue.
Now that being said.... from what I have read here some people have not had great or even good or fair service. I think who is running the place, and how it is being run is to blame and has nothing to do with the name on the building.

^ Exactly..

One big reason why Genesis of Cherry Hill was able to move so much volume was because they took service seriously even while sharing space with Hyundai.

Genesis CH had dedicated sales people (even hired a former flight attendant to be the guest liaison) and had built a swanky waiting area for Genesis customers.

That being said, the majority of lux buyers probably expect nice digs and every Genesis dealership should eventually have, at the very least, a separate showroom building with service lounge.

It's simple really. You can produce the most luxurious, best looking vehicles on Earth, but if the customer service isn't there after the sale, people will be one and done. Genesis NEEDS more exclusive dealerships so that the luxury experience continues throughout the entire ownership experience. I came from Acura, Infiniti, and Lexus and although my local Hyundai dealership treated me well, it was nowhere the experience I had with the others. I haven't had any service experiences yet but I'll say the waiting room and amenities at the Hyundai dealership most certainly aren't what I'm used to. Some might think that's a lil snobby but I didn't pay $75K after taxes and fees for that experience. In the end, we all just want what we paid for. ✌️
My situation is that there is no Acura, Infinity, Lexus, or Audi dealer within about 100 miles from me. There is a Genesis dealer(if you can call this place in Longview, TX a Genesis dealer) that is about 43 miles away. My wife has her heart set on a GV80, but that dealer in Longview is just a bunch of good ole boys, and they usually have no more than two Genesis vehicles on the premises.

BMW and MB do have dealers here. What would you do?

I would but the beamer and add a year or so onto your loan.

43 miles is a bit of a hike. Not an issue if you don't need service, but.....How close is BMW? I'd probably go with them.
Yeah, I don't like it being that far. I did talk to them and they say their mileage limit on the Concierge service is 45 miles, so they would come get the car for service and drop off a loaner. But, again, they haven't even built their stand-alone Genesis showroom yet and I've got my doubts if they ever will.

The BMW and MB dealerships are about 5 miles from my house.

Yeah, twice a year or so would be a major disaster to drive that far for some people. I drive that far just for a loaf of good rye bread. If I set a 5 or 10 limit my choice of cars would be severely limited. .

I've had the others. No comparison to the Genesis, IMO. Read the reviews of their service department. Drive the Genesis. If you like it, get it. Happy wife, happy life. 😊

You found good rye bread in Florida? 😁
7 years here and I am still looking for a good bagel.

No, when I live in CT I used to drive to the Polish bakery in Worcester MA, on Water Street with other ethnic stores. Sadly, some of the best have closed as the owners retired.

For bagels, I buy the frozen Ray's NY Bagels. Not great but better than many,

Einstein bagels??
I don't have one near me, but they would be the best around here if they were close.
I have made my one in the past, They taste good, and had a thin crunch on the outside and doughy on the inside. but came out ugly.

Wasn't the first Genesis model year 2017?

As a model. no, they've been around since 2011. The 2015/2016 Sedans were just badged Hyundai Genesis until Hyundai could establish/figure out a Brand and dealer identity, which from my perspective they are still working on. I had an interaction with the past President of Genesis Canada after reaching out to tell him of a poor "Genesis Experience" test drive I had where nobody showed up or contacted me at all. To his credit, he sent me a lengthy reply 2 days later a) acknowledging it, b) detailing exactly how it happened, c) apologized profusely and vowed to make it right and imploring me to reach out to him personally if I'd be willing to give them another chance. Solid Stand-Up guy. He was gone 6 months later, replacement has demonstrated no accountability at all, which may be indicative of how they run.

They certainly look very appealing!
