  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What do you want Genesis to do?

Yes the costs are high for Lux brand vehicles... But Genesis still lacks the dealer support needed to be even a decent brand... The closing of two Genesis showrooms and service sites within Hyundai dealerships should have been addressed by their corporate offices to those of us who have our vehicles still under warranty.
That makes me glad we leased it.. at the end of 3 years if they haven't resolved the dealer issues then it goes back to Hyundai Finance... if they have we can decide if we want to buy it out. Sorta like electric vehicles - I'd only consider leasing one, the future is too uncertain and the advances in technology too rapid to be stuck with a 10-year-old electric vehicle (which would likely be valueless..)

Where do I begin? For starters, I think they missed an opportunity because they didn't come out with a hybrid before joining the band-wagon with an all EV. Practically every other brand that has an EV has a hybrid variant. I also think that supercharged engine in the new G90 could have been also offered for the G80 coupe. If you really want to get nasty, offer that up with a hybrid marriage.

Let's keep the G70 as its' flagship sports sedan. add a "SuperSport" trim that sees it have a TC or Hybrid setup to produce over 450+bhp, and line lock included. and please for the love of pete, fix the Quad exhaust! No one likes the ovals with little tiny outlets they call quads lol

Match the Lexus standard for customer service! (please, no excuses like "because pandemic")
Provide the services/concierge services as stated on your website. Pick up car for servicing. Make sure brand new vehicles sold to customers do not have flaws - major and minor.

Yeah, all of the above. They also need enough well-trained service techs, and parts, like differentials and sunroofs (for example!) that don't take weeks or months to arrive.
After handing out case numbers to their customers who are having issues, they need to follow up and actually resolve the issue.

Unless the seller offered a warranty of some sort, no.
Original owner got 5/60 on everything 10/100 on powertrain in US. Since you refer to k's, I suspect Canada with less original warranty.

You have nothing from the factory, only if the dealer offered something or he bought an extended warranty.

What's your vision for Genesis? The brand... What would you like to see them do? A new car? A new CUV? A new EV? What? High performance? Ultra luxury? What can Genesis do that would make you say, "Wow! I'm proud to be a Genesis owner - and I'm going to remain loyal forever."?
My vision is to move the spoiler. The rear vision is the worst I’ve ever seen in a passenger car. That ill placed spoiler only exacerbates the problem.
Put the spoiler above the rear window. While you’re at it Genesis, put a small window behind the C pillars, to increase rear vision. I’ve removed my backseat headrests which help along with a great camera system. I would not buy another GV60, unless rear vision improves. This is my 3rd Genesis.

You need to re-open more dealer maintenace shops since the closed majority of them owners can get warranty repairs done. Also, case managers/corporate need to be trained how to return phone calls along with dealers.

I would like to see Hyundai/Genesis to "powdercoat" its painted wheels, or better, stop using painted wheels as the problems arising from them make you, especially Genesis, appear "cheap". Genesis is supposed to be a "high end, quality manufacturer", and these continuing problems will reflect badly on the brand. I am not pleased, and any who ask my opinion of my vehicle will get an unexpected earful!

Coming from BMW and Porsche - the "dealership" experience is somewhat different.

Buying the vehicle was easy, although not the experience I got at BMW and Porsche dealerships, but I have hopes.

Several decades ago - my first BMW dealer purchase was from a dealer who was co-located with a large Chevy dealership. That wasn't unusual. BMW didn't generate the traffic to build out a large stand-alone dealership. But - they made the best of what they had, which I see as missing at the co-located Genesis dealerships.

Unlike the Hyundai/Genesis dealership, the BMW dealer had a separate showroom and service area. That would seem a reasonable first step for many Hyundai dealerships who don't have the money or traffic to build a completely separate facility. The showroom we purchased the GV70 from was noisy, with all hard surfaces, music blaring away and no private spaces (little tables the salespeople used) and the overall impression was a "Sell it.. whatta we gotta do to get you in this car today?" sort of environment.

I'm a bit hard of hearing (not awful, and not hearing aid level yet), and the background noise combined with the blaring music and echos from all the hard surfaces made it difficult to have an intelligent conversation with our salesperson (who happened to be from England and retained some "English accent".)

Dedicate part of the existing dealership to Genesis, wall off a section of the showroom, and offer the niceties that luxury car owners expect (at least a decent coffee bar and a waiting area that doesn't look like the waiting room of a free health clinic.) The BMW dealership setup wasn't extravagant - but it showed they were trying to service the higher-priced vehicle customers in a way that recognized they weren't Chevy customers.

Once Genesis builds a customer base that will justify it, the stand-alone facility could bring them to the same level as Lexus and Infinity. It might take a bit more in the way of offerings to bring them to the level of Porsche (my Porsche dealer currently has several cars priced a bit over a million dollars in the showroom.. but it's a Penske dealership so money isn't an issue.)

The mind blowing thing is all the Kia dealerships I have been in (one to buy, one to service, one to pick up a part) are nice and quiet. So maybe things have improved somewhat ... or your dealer is super bad. Or maybe Kia has better dealers than Hyundai? I always find it funny that they are seldom the same company - my Kia service center is a Kia/Subaru/Chevy/Buick dealership

^ It all depends on how good/bad the ownership group is...

If the dealer group owns a bunch of different brands, they tend to fall one way or the other irrespective of brand.

Genesis needs to be more forceful in getting rid of the bad dealers.

Genesis needs to be more forceful in getting rid of the bad dealers.
Then wait for the screaming about "no dealer in 200 miles" - what Genesis has to be more forceful about is getting more dedicated dealerships - no matter how they go about it. Make a bad dealer into a good dealer - it's certainly doable. While the manufacturers claim they have no control over dealership practices - that's legal BS. Holdbacks, trunk money, inventory allotments, all can be used to put pressure on a dealership. And since all the principals of Genesis are grown up boys and gals - I'm sure they know exactly how to use those tools.

Quality service. Quality service. Quality service. Quality service. Quality service. Quality service!!!!!!!

Provide the 100,000 mi power train warranty to second owners at least 3 years in arears. When you pay that much for a recent used car the mfb should honor the full warranty.

If they do that, you will pay even more. The first owner will also pay it even if they will never use it. You can have it certified to get 6/75. They have actuaries that figure cost on things like that.

No manufacturer is in the market for used car buyers. Only dealerships, which are independently owned, care about that - which is why you get that warranty if you buy CPO from the dealerships.
