What does "Auto Highbeam" do?

just figured out I had it on my ride after 1 year!! So what does it do???

It's supposed to automatically turn off your high beams when the car senses oncoming traffic and then turn it back on again once the traffic clears.

This is so you don't blind oncoming drivers.

Automatic high beams turns on the high beams automatically

Slightly longer explanation, when enabled they will go to high beam when over something like 30mph as long as the system does not see oncoming light. If it does, it will revert to low and go back to high when oncoming lights are not detected. In my experience, they work very well. They will go back to low beam when dropping below 30mph so keep that in mind.

The auto high beam function reverts to normal, at least on my car, each time the ignition is shut off. You must turn the system on using the turn signal handle each time you want to activate Auto Highbeam. Yes, as long as the system is on, the lights will switch back and forth from low beam to high beam when lighting conditions merit. Like the other poster stated, the system works very well. As an aside, this type of device is nothing new. High end GM cars had the Guidematic Headlamp Dimmer available as an option in the early 1950's. Ford also offered the feature on Lincolns. I have owned a number of cars with this feature, 1976 Ford Thunderbird, 1977 Continental Mark V, 1978 Continental Mark V, and a 1988 Lincoln Continental.

Works great! Also will not switch to high beams if taillights of a vehicle in front of you are detected, until the vehicle is quite a distance away.

I have a 2017 Toyota Avalon and its automatic high beams turn on and off a lot more than on my 2015 Genesis. My Genesis must be super sensitive. If it senses street lights it won't turn on the high-beams. Do you find that your Genesis is also super sensitive? I am wondering if I should have the dealer take a look. Thanks.

Same here - they often don't turn on where there are street lights, houses with lanterns or other light sources around. I had this feature on my previous Chrysler 300C, and it worked better on that car than on the Genesis. Generally, the feature works as advertised though.

I had no idea the car had it when I was first driving at night. I kept thinking the headlights were possessed and I was fighting it flicking the stalk back and forth. After about 30 minutes I finally figured out what it was doing and felt like quite the dumbass.

No we don't. I think it's either the tech or ultimate package.

Posting this brought back memories of my uncle's Olds 98 with the Guidematic system. It was perched in the center of the dash near the windshield and had that "Jetsons" look, reminding me of a derringer ray gun.
