What does "R-spec" stand for?

All,

Is this moniker simply a product of Hyundai's marketing department, or is there some history here? Personally, if it's just supposedly a catchy racy-sounding name, I think it's a little out of place for the Genesis. I would have preferred appropriating the label "G5", borrowing a tiny bit from Gulfstream. It would seem a little more in keeping with the target population. Other thoughts?

R spec does NOT mean racing spec. Hyundai says so itself. What it does stand for is Reduced weight specifications...or R- Spec

doubtful, how much less does a r-spec weigh over a standard genesis? I dont know what it stands for but if i were to guess I'd say someone in marketing though it sounded cool and they went with it

That would be my guess. Of course, they say it is not racing. If you practice that in the mirror you can say it with a straight face too.
