  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What does your service dept offer to Genesis owners?

I recently went for an oil change. While waitng I stopped in the parts dept for a couple Genesis key chains. When I went to pay, the clerk asked me if I bought my car here, I said yes. He then said "they're yours for free".

Lee Hyundai of Fayetteville, NC:

Services specific to Genesis owners? None, except that the loaner, when available, is usually a Genesis. Spartan waiting room with hard chairs, a 27 inch TV, and a single "Mr Coffee" style coffee pot that does not appear to have ever actually had coffee in it. Usually get a loaner, and it's usually a Genesis. Service Department has failed me on several occasions, and I've never gotten the impression that they gave a crap one way or the other if I chose them over some other service department.

Johnson Hyundai of Raleigh/Cary, NC:

Clean, sharp facilities. Granite tile, lots of chrome, huge showroom. Seperate waiting areas for service, sales, parts. Gourmet cafe (free) with coffee, snacks, bottled water, etc. Large-screen TV with comfortable over-stuffed chairs in the lounge. Quiet reading area with comfortable chairs.

Excellent sales staff, obsesive about customer service.

The service department missed having my car ready once, by one day. Instead of having me drive back to Raleigh to pick it up, they delivered it to Fayetteville and drove the loaner back.

My GF bought a Lexus IS 250 this past Monday. She bought it from the sister dealership, Johnson Lexus. The experience was identical, except that Lexus owners get complimentary valet parking at all of the local malls, and many local restaurants. That may be because it's owned by the same folks, or it may be that all Lexus Dealerships offer this kind of service, and Johnson Hyundai is just an exceptional Hyundai dealership.

Well, I just took my Genesis in for an oil change and the tilt steering wheel issue. When I made the appt. over the phone, I asked for a rental since I knew this would be an all day event and he (The Service Manager) said he would have to get approval for that. He calls back and says, ok I got the rental for you and the part is in. Ok great...thinking, I'll get a Genesis. Maybe 2011 to check out. The day of the appt., I get there and the service guy doesn't know about the rental. Service Manager comes out and says "oh yeah...he has rental...Enterprise will come and pick you up". Okkkaaayyy...guess no Genesis even though there were about 10 sedans on the lot. Waited for Enterprise...nobody shows up. The dealership decides to shuttle me over there where they "hook me up" with a Hyundai Elantra. Later that day the car was fixed (as of now) and I had to return the car back to Enterprise where they then drove me back to the dealership. Remember, my dealership was doing me a "favor". :-O

At least my Genesis was fixed in one day.

Oh yeah...and as far as what they offer in the Service dept...13" TV and I think a coffee machine. A sign posted says we no longer wash cars due to conservation effort in Southern California. The date on the sign is from Jan 2009.

BTW, I said to the regular service guy that checked me in "you know...if Hyundai wants to compete for BMW or Lexus owners, don't you think the least you could do is offer a rental car and not have to haggle for it? He didn't have much to say.

the dealership I work for offers, coffee, doughnuts, shuttle, loaner if available, free car wash(genesis only) and sometimes delivery of your vehicle.

So far the closest dealer only offer a free car wash, but the service may improve since the Genesis owners are registering complaints and demanding more options.
