  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What Fuel Grade Do You Use?

Regular - 87 Octane.

For my family, over the lifetime of the vehicle, the $ savings are worth the decrease in HP. But we don't quite fall into the category of "enthusiasts", either... apart from enthusiastically enjoying the Genesis every time we sit in it. :)

On long trips, I use premium. I've noticed a 2 MPG gain on the same freeway using premium. I hit 30.3 MPG roundtrip the other week

Even so, does an extra 2 mpg make up for the giant price difference between regular and premium?

For some of us it's not a really big issue!
Economy is an issue for a lot of us who are retired or about to retire (my demographic...)

Premium ever since I got my car.
I know that slightly better MPG and 10 cents more per gallon will kinda cancel out each other, but I like the fact that I'm squeezing out the full HP with my motor.

I have only put regular in mine and just crossed 4,000 miles. If I do make a roadtrip over 100 miles then I will probably put in Premium, but for my daily driving I will stay with regular.

I picked up my new 4.6 this Monday. The dealer had filled it with regular. First tank averaged 23 MPG. Filled second tank with Premium and immediately saw a 2 MPG increase and overall better responsiveness. I will use premium as long as the current price is $2.75/gal.

I had been running Mid-grade and my OBD would register 384 miles until empty after filling up. On my next trip to gas station, filled up with regular, it then read 411 miles until empty...curious

Gosh that's amazing mileage. I am happy if I can get 28, but more typical for me is 26.x-ish.

13K miles all on premium, btw

With the 3.8 I cannot tell the difference, other than the cost.

got 4.6....used to put 89 octane...got about 16.8 mpg....
when i switch to premium(not long ago) it went up to 17.9mpg...

I have been using regular for almost a year now, but I had what was diagnosed as a misfire the other day. My service manager concluded that the regular no name gas I have been using is the prob. Maybe a little water in it.
Filled up with premium the next day..Engine seems to like that better..Drat. Also, I am noticing a tad better response.

out of the dealership i used regular, now with a couple modds i use premium sometimes even with an enhancer. I can feel the difference

I have a 4.6 and running 93 octane, I consistantly get 3 miles per gallon more. I get 25 on regular and 28 on premium. I pay $2.74 for premium and $2.57 for regular. If you put in 15 gallons using each type, I will get 45 more miles using the premium. That's 1.8 gallons more using premium. At 2.57 per gallon for regular, it would cost me an extra 4 bucks of regular gas to get the extra 45 miles.

Where I live, premium is the way to go for me.

My 4.6 gets 93 octane. I am used to paying for premium since my wife's Vette gets it as well. I mixed it up some when I drove out to California and realized that they think their gas is mixed with gold or something. I average between 26 and 28, so I can't complain.
