  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have hit it a few times at red light against a few different cars . I was wondering who had done the same and against what??

Re: What have you Race?

Nissan 370z and Maserati Quattroporte to name a few. The Nissan was an easy victory however the Maserati had matched performance to the Rspec.

Re: What have you Race?

I in no way condone any form of street racing, it is dangerous and stupid, but there are times when I have needed to get in front of another car who wanted to get in front of me, after all you do need to merge safely. Those have included a:

Ford Raptor
Ford Mustang
Chevy Camero
Dodge Challenger
Dodge Charger
C Class Benz
E Class Benz
3 Series BMW
5 Series BMW
Subaru Legacy 3.5
Nissan 350Z
Harly Sportster 1200

But the only one that was close was a Kawasaki Ninja 500, we were evenly matched and neither of us could pull away. At the next light the rider pulled up and asked "Damn that thing is fast, what is it?"

"Damn that thing is fast, what is it?"

It's a Hyundai!

Chevrolet Camaro V6
Volkswagen Phaeton W12
Bentley Continental GT
Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged
GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax
Infiniti M45
Hyundai Genesis R-Spec
Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T
Scion FR-S
Volkswagen Golf R
Lincoln MKX
Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG
Mercedes Benz S65 AMG
Mercedes Benz CL600 AMG Sport
BMW X5M
BMW X6M
Dodge Neon SRT4

All the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

I don't know what was in the SRT4 but that was faster than my 4.6.

From Car-and-Driver
Just a Mitsubishi TD04-L-16GK turbocharger pressurizing the intake manifold of a 2.4-liter SOHC 16-valve four enough to raise its output from 150 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque to 215 horsepower and 245 pound-feet

That's the stock configuration. SRT'4 are pretty beast when it comes to performance, particularly with full bolt ons and a decent tune. They are also under 3000lbs if my memory serves me right. Before I upgraded the turbo on my Genesis Coupe it wouldn't stand a chance against an SRT4 even though I had full bolt ons. They are fairly ugly cars and the interiors are a terrible place to sit but the performance is definitely there.

Many good races to come, looking to stay undefeated! :grouphug:

Haahaaa, I was kidding man, I am retired from racing...

I'm also retired from racing, but I beat a garbage truck off the mark the other day. Last time I actually raced was in 1960. My dad's Bonneville beat my friend's dad's Chrysler.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I never raced any cars from the stop lights. I have more fun just dropping down a gear and pulling away from ~70mph....most of the time they tried to stay on my tail til 120, after that, they were giving up.

What launch control? Did you install something aftermarket? What year is you Genesis. I have several upgrades too. Would like to see what you've done.

- BMW 325 (easy)
- Merc AMG C Class (left me like I was standing still)
- SRT4 running Nitrous (dead even)

Would like to start going to the track periodically to see how this car stacks up with the upgrades I've done.

I raced several times from the red light, not because I like street racing, but because 2-lane road merges into one lane after intersection, and there are a lot of smart asses who go into the right lane during red light stop trying to beat the first car in the left lane.

First time I did it in automatic mode. But transmission had slight hesitation between first and second gear and it took some speed from the car. But I still won.

So, next time when I had (no choice) to race from the stop/red light I put shift stick into manual mode and into 2nd gear. When it switched to green light I push pedal almost to the metal. Oh boy, what a difference it was. I only went from 2nd to 3rd gear and I could see car in my rear view mirror.

I don't remember all cars, but one was Volvo top model, another one was Grand Cherokee.

2008-ish Camaro SS convertible - Win
2012 WRX STi - Win
Ford Taurus SHO - Win
GTR - derp. but he was a neighbor and i wasn't even going to try.

What upgrades have you done??

Too many :D

Cat-Delete pipes
Magnaflow CBE
Custom 3.5" Intake with Heat Shield
Aluminum Pulley Set - Crankshaft, Alternator, Water Pump
Sprint Booster
Coolant TB Bypass
Wider tires
Slightly smaller tire/wheel combo - final drive ratio of 4.05 vs 3.9 stock
Rigid collar set

Oil Catch Can (not really performance, but gives cleaner intake charge)

I'm going to paint the grey portions of my grille black this weekend. I have 18% tint already so it should look slick.
