  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What have you Raced?

Oh how the attitude wanes...

I certainly believe the Evo to be stock (still), and possibly with issues. Back in the day, Evos at Bandimere were sub 14s, IIRC.

I still think street racing is stupid. :)

I agree to a certain extent about it being stupid. In traffic or in neighborhoods, yes. But if its well away from any innocent bystanders then it's fine. We've even been told by law enforcement that they know it's going to happen, to just keep it away from the public. That's the good thing about this country, we can all have differences in opinions. For now at least

I figured I would revive this thread and stir things up a bit.:devilish:

A few weeks ago I went out to Lonestar Motorsports Park, aka the Hennessey 1/4 mile track. It is close to the house and they were having a "Run whatcha brung" event. It was not the best day for racing as it was warm, humid, and had a 20-30mph headwind. In any case it was fun.
My first run, (and also first of the day) was against a 2010-2012 Shelby GT 500. The Mustang didn't have the best launch and I ripped 2-3 car lengths on him out of the hole. I was able to hold him off for the win.
The second run was against a Mercedes AMG GT S. It spun off the line and by the time it hooked I was ~5 car lengths ahead. I took the win by a car length.
And the third run was against the same AMG GT S, the guy specifically wanted another crack at me. This time the GT S had a better launch but still spun some. I held him off and took the win by a hair. The guy parked his GT S and did not race the rest of the time I was there. He did come up to me asking what kind of car I had and didn't believe me until I showed him the Flying H on the steering wheel. He then crawled thru the entire car and was thoroughly impressed.
Fourth run I had my doors blown off by a blown Camaro.
On the sixth run I raced against Charger R/T. The R/T shot out of the hole and pulled a car length on me. I reeled him in and won by almost a full car length. This guy was cool, we chatted a bunch with his dad who has a '14 Equus. Really cool guys.
After the Challenger R/T, a guy with a Challenger SRT/8 came up saying he would "redeem the Mopar's from the rice burners!". So my seventh and last run of the day was against the Challenger SRT/8. From the launch all the way to the 3-4 shift we were door to door. On the 3-4 shift I edged past by 1/2 a fender for the win.
I then parked and hung out chatting with a bunch of people for another hour or so. Everyone was pretty cool and we all enjoyed talking about cars. A lot of people had questions about my "rice burning 5.0 Genesis". All in all, good times.

And, last weekend I was coming down I-10 West when a Charger SRT got on the freeway with a quickness. The driver was goosing it next to anything that looked like it could make noise. As it was going by me not paying me any attention I ripped it open and surprised him. He dropped back behind me in what I call "the what is it stage". He sat about 2-3 cars behind me for a bit and I figured he wanted to play cat-n-mouse. I told my wife "I wish him good luck hunting" and nailed it winding out thru 5th. The SRT gained about 1/2 a car and no more until I let off. The driver pulled along side me and sat there for about a mile or so when I made my exit. I gave a thumbs up and he just looked at me. My wife said he was a sore looser... :rolf:

lol awesome stories. I love that "what is it" stage; I've seen that as well.

I am surprised you were able to pull on the SRT. It's a little heavier than our cars but has more HP and torque. Good runs!

I firmly believe it is all in the gearing. The car still surprises me every once in a while.

Nice runs...
I could not agree more with the idea it is all about the gearing.
The ideal shiftpoints for our R-Spec is at 6200rpm (4.6 @ 6100), while making sure that the throttle is depress all the way, without engaging the kick down switch.
