  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Fitted on the surface of internal plastic trim on the edge of the foot well, between the hood release lever and the drivers door (this is a right hand drive UK car) is a small button shaped object, about 15 mm in diameter and stands about 5 mm proud. There is a little red light near the top of this button, and a small round switch near the bottom. If you push the switch, the top red light illuminates. Anybody know what this does? I have never seen anything like this on a car before.

Seat ejection button.... only available in British sold car and only available to secrete agents :-) ......

I'm, fairly interested in said mystery nub, TTIWWOP

This button is only fitted to European models and is used to energize the Metzer dislacement module that disengages the rear Dongler attachment at speeds of over 50mph (80kph).

What'd he say?

However if he has the Ultimate model, it will not be upgradeable to the newer flux capacitor with 1.21 jigowatts of power. Seems so unfair.

Thanks. I didn't realise the hood pull would be on the left hand side on US variants. Is there anything in the same position on your passenger side?
I'll take a photo tomorrow.

Reference the other posts = larf.

I think these last few posts are the best/funniest I've ever seen on the Genesis Forum.

Back to the topic: That funny lever was obviously meant for people who are licensed for concealed carry (and left handed). It's a "quick release" mechanism. But only for 3.8L owners - they need it more.

Pics. Pressing the bottom 'pip button' illuminates the little red light at the top.

I got nothing. Pedestrian hood safety test button "active bonnet"? We have the system in the NA cars, but no test button?

Speaking of mysterious stuff, there is a mysterious servo sound that lasts about a second after I shut off the engine and quickly open the door. I wonder if it's part of that system.

Nice thread. :)

I would ask the dealer where you bought the car. Looks after-market to me.

Agreed - definitely aftermarket. You bought this used I presume? I am thinking GPS tracker, high idle, heated something or another... ?

I found one of his post, it seems the car was brand new, 200 miles on odo means nothing.
I'm wondering, what the hell is that?

Hi, I'm buying at huge discount (I mean massive) an ex demonstrator 3.8L Sedan with 200 miles on the clock, having sat in a showroom for many months. Here in the UK there are no additional packages. They fit every possible feature and sell the one model type. You just choose the exterior and interior colours at no extra cost. ...

He apparently bought a demo, so a GPS tracker would be consistent with that. But not sure why a GPS tracker would have a switch?

I'm gonna go with some third party alarm or remote start

According to the sales blurb, it is fitted with

Thatcham Category 1 Approved Alarm and a Thatcham Category 6 Approved Tracking System.

Are yours or is this a British spec?
