If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is the history of the Genesis Badging?

Badges? We need stinkin' badges! :)

I am holding out for a 2010 Genesis in hopes that the suspension may be tweaked a bit. As I dream about the vehicle arriving I'm starting to create a list of things that I know I'll need to have done. The one that I wonder about is whether or not I'm going to have to rebadge the vehicle or not.

The Genesis Wing clearly looks better than the skewed "H" to me. I think most people would agree. However, when I see the current trailer of Genesis's coming to the Hyndai dealerships they all still have the "H" on them and then the dealer orders the new badges from a third-party company?

Does Hyundai support the new badge? Will it be seen on future Genesis's? Why in the world aren't the dealers going to Hyundai directly to provide the badges?

I have no doubt Hyundai will join the bandwagon with wings in 2010. my opinion is 2/3 of all Genesis owners agree with the wings. It will be with the eventual Genesis becoming a sub luxury form Hyundai and Equus being the flagship of the Genesis brand.

I live in Pa outside of Phila.and bought my Genesis (3.8 Bk/Bk Tech in Doyletown Pa. I requested the badge change and the dealer delivered my car with the changes..I only had to change the H on the sterring wheel with an badge I found on Ebay for 15.00
I have had my car since April 30th ,now with 1500 miles and loving
every minute and mile. Ride is a little unstable on bad roads, but I love my
Gennie

Anyone know whether Hyundai plans to adopt the new badge on all new Genesis?

Would be an interesting move if they did that with the badging here in North America. That would leave the only exterior badging on the wheels. Obviously not visible on a moving car. I think that might not be enough exterior visibility for Hyundai. Just a hunch.

Having done all of the badging on my 3.8 (hood, trunk, wheel caps, aftermarket steering wheel badge), I think Hyundai should adopt the sub-brand Genesis and then use the convention everyone else uses: alphanumeric model numbers.

Protruding hood ornament aside, I think the Equus is taking a step backward for both the brand and appearance. Its badge is hideous compared to the Genesis. (Plus, I can't get the image of Daniel Radcliffe out of my head every time the Equus/Prestige is mentioned...ugh).

I'm okay with what they did with the coupe, even though it's fundamentally a different car. Just keep the branding consistent throughout, please.

The one that I wonder about is whether or not I'm going to have to rebadge the vehicle or not.

1. I don't find the flying H to be aesthetically pleasing. I got the trunk emblem ($8), steering wheel cap ($19) and 18" wheel caps ($37). Those prices include S&H, so all told I spent $64 to get the new look.

2. Before I looked into it, I questioned my salesman about the wing emblems. He said that when they got them in, the service department would put them on for me for a good price (I think I read somewhere else that the price was like $300). After joining this site and taking a look at eBay, I just called my salesman back and let him know that I probably wouldn't need any help getting the emblems on, and he volunteered to have his service department put them on for FREE. All I have to do is just bring them in and he'll get it done while I wait. I offered to let him take pictures to use in their advertising in exchange if he wants.

3. The steering wheel badge and wheel caps are easy enough that my 11 year old daughter could do them. For the steering wheel cap, just remove the backing of the double-sided sticky tape, line up properly, and press. The edges of the new emblem should fit around the flying H. For the wheel caps, just remove with a flat head screwdriver, line up the new caps, and tap in the new caps with the heel of your hand or a rubber mallet. Should take no more than 3-5 minutes. I'm going to let the service department of my dealer do the trunk's emblem, even though I live in East-central Florida and wouldn't even need a hairdryer to get the flying H off.

You made out like a bandit if you bought a set of 4 wheel caps for $37. When I rebadged my 4.6/Tech in January with wings on the steering wheel and trunk lid, two different styles of wheel caps were available; one set sold for $90, the other for $250.

I first went with the cheaper set, but later sold them to another member of this forum and bought the $250 set because they were specifically designed for the wheels on my 4/6/Tech.

The difference between the two may be subtle to some, but it's significant to my eye. Below are photos I shot of the two different styles on my car. The $90 set is on the left. Click on either or both to enlarge.

Can't really tell from your pics what color your car is? Does anybody have any experience with the correct 4.6 wing wheel caps ($250) on a Titanium Grey Metallic? I've seen them on a black Genesis but not on any other color. Pics would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

For those of you who have ordered from Korean Auto Imports, where does their merchandise ship from for US orders? I live in NJ and am wondering the approximate shipping time?

For those of you who have ordered from Korean Auto Imports, where does their merchandise ship from for US orders? I live in NJ and am wondering the approximate shipping time?

From the Korean Auto Imports web site - - FAQ Desk (topic): Which shipment carrier is used for international shipments?
The majority of our orders are shipped via USPS air mail 7-14 day service. EMS express service is available for an additional cost. Some larger items are sent via Bax Global 7-10 day air freight. Oversized items such as body kits must be sent by boat 4-6 week service. Please contact us for an accurate shipment cost for special order items.

From the Policies section of the same web site: We have 3 distribution centers located in the USA, Canada and Korea, your order may be shipped from anyone of these 3 locations depending upon the item(s) ordered and on hand stock availability. However, orders cannot be guaraneed to ship from anyone of these 3 particular locations upon convenience (ie; Canadian customers wishing to bypass duty/VAT etc). We encourage our customers to contact us before the purchase of multiple item orders to obtain an exact shipment estimate, otherwise you may use our automated checkout system with flat rate fees based upon your order size/location.

The web site has many interesting sections and aftermarket add-ons.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I picked up my Genesis 3.8 sedan last week. During negotiations I asked that they include the badging package in deal which they happily agreed to. I would guess that most dealers would throw the badging in to sell a car.

Some will, and some won't. These badges are official parts for the Korean version of the Hyundai Genesis, but they are not imported by Hyundai Motors America (unless they started recently). So the dealers who have the Korean badges, probably have to get them from the same importers as everyone else.

Thanks,

It was the Platinum Silver. I say "was" because I sold the car last week. Loved the car in general but could no longer deal with the truck-like ride on the lousy roads where I live. Bought a new Lexus ES350 with its ride that is ideal for me, but may come back to Hyundai next year if a version of the Equus with its adjustable suspension like the one I test drove several weeks ago comes in at or around $50K when it is introduced next year.

If Hyundai was to soften the suspension on the 2010 Genesis and made its ride similar to my ES350, which is highly unlikely, I'd jump back into a Platinum/Black Genesis 4.6/Tech like the one I just sold in a heartbeat. For me, that would make it the "perfect driving machine."

If the new owner is reading this (his son is a member of the forum), perhaps he can post the pics you requested.

Even if Hyundai fixes the problems with the 2009 suspension, it is not going to be anywhere near as soft as a ES350 (and it doesn't need to be).

Exactly, I test drove both the ES350 and the Genesis. Almost bought an ES350 but that soft smooth senior citizen ride is actually what stopped me. I like my car to have a little roughness to it, especially when its got a powerful v8 in it. I guess since i've drove sport cars my entire life, the Genesis still feels homely.

Then again.. my Genesis drives brilliantly. But I guess ymmv.

Oh hey, this is way off topic!

I know it is none of my business, but how much did you lose on selling your Genesis? I am just interested in seeing what type of depreciation is occurring in the Genesis sedan. According to my dealer, a Tech 3.8 recently sold at auction for 36K which had 18K miles on it.
