  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What octane gas do you use in your Equus?

I have been using regular unleaded gas in my Equus (87 octane) and the car has been running fine. Just to compare, the last time I filled up the car I used super at a 93 octane level. I can feel a difference. The car feels like it is accelerating faster. Almost like the car has more lower end torque. Has anyone noticed a similar difference? I like saving the money for the lower octane fuel, but I like the performance better with the more expensive higher octane fuel.

I am interested in hearing if anyone else has noticed a significant performance difference with the Equus.

Yes! The kick in the pants is definitely there! :D

Super is the way to go. :)

By the way, if you check your fuel consumption, you should notice a nice increase, I find that my millage is much better, enough to compensate for the price increase.

To each his own!

Have great ride you all!

CIAO

glad this came up....i just picked mine up last night and they filled it with 87 but i think that i will do 93 if there is a difference in performance.

Not to be rude, but I don't get it. If $.25/gallon or so is such a big deal, why are you (royal, not personal) driving a V8 in the first place? It seems like coupon clipping to me. Sometimes it's worth it, but I wouldn't do it to save 6% or so twice a month.

I agree, why buy regular for a $60,000 car that is made for premium gas? I have never thought about gas cost or mileage in my Genesis, BMW, Mercedes V8, or my suburban. Now there was a day when I was young in my 20's that I pinched every penny nd drove small econo 4 cyl cars.

There is definitely a noticeable difference 93 octane over 87, especially if you have been running 87 then go to 93 (some people may switch between the 2 different ratings).

Also, since switch "back" to premium after a month of using regular, I also see increased gas mileage.

I recently purchased a new Equus Ultimate, my 1st was a 2011 Signature Equus and I can tell you that Super is the way to go. I initially used regular gas in my Signature then switched to Super and felt an immediate difference. Be well my friend.

Engine is designed for 91 octane. Sometimes I my mix a little regular with 93, but almost always go with 93. Depreciation is triple gas cost on these cars.

premium is sixty cents a gallon more where I live...enough to keep me from buying one of these
