  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looks like we may have the GV80 in the states next month, just wondering what other SUV you are shopping against the GV80?

I was almost decided to get a Aviator, which is probably the most luxurious SUV the US ever built in its size. It has similar technology, some not as fancy as the GV80, but practical, it got the 30 way massage seats in the first row and captain chair in the second row, larger and more powerful. The first year quality worry stopped me and got me hooked on the GV80. But since the production is limited, the waiting may be long and the price may jump. So a 2021 aviator may be back in the game again. A Aviator Reserve II with convenience package is almost identical in price to a Prestige GV80, and it definitely has a spare.

What is your back up plan?

Put my order in on February 19th for the GV80. I am giving it until mid November and if it does not come in my wife will be getting my Genesis G90 and I will be purchasing a Ford Raptor for me. Looks funny when written down, I would be willing to bet not many folks cross shop a GV80 and a Raptor.

Lol, true. I am not sure what I want either and may be end up getting something economical.

2021 MDX type S.
Acura is really tight lipped about MDX, and it is way over due. Hope the new design will give it enough power and upgrade. I should keep my eyes open too.

As things stand now, in two more years, at the end of its warranty, it'll be another F Pace. Practical enough for our needs, and as last time, if I have to drive a Mommy Mobile, it's gotta be the sexiest looking bad-assed one on the road. All cars are good these days in my opinion, so looks take first priority.

Can't get past the front fascia of Acuras with that new grille shape (it's worse than the toned down beak).

Dropped the GV80 and bought a Tesla Y. OMG this thing is fast not to mention living in the future. Once you drive one you will understand. I personally had no clue how amazing the propulsion system is. Got the extended range AWD premium model and opted for the acceleration boost. 0-60 in 4.3, regardless from what speed, when you ask for power it delivers. The simplicity is simply genius, seriously doubt I will ever go back to an ICE machine. Tons of storage. Very pleased with the vehicle.

^ What do you think you would have chosen if the eGV70 had been available now?

Only reason I looked at the Tesla was because the GV80 was too big after seeing it in person and nothing out there rang my bell so to say. Probably would have opted for a GV70 however after tasting electric there is no turning back IMHO. Over 500km of range is right up there with gas vehicles or rather close. Go try one, its free. ;) Another thing is there is no maintenance, brakes will last about 200,000 km since one normally near uses them unless in an emergency. No exhaust system, no belts. no oils, no valves, not much of anything except filling the windshield washer fluid.

AWD? Take a look at these tests done in Alaska. Impressive. Tesla Model Y Durability Tests: Extreme Temps, Off-Road On Ice In Alaska

Tesla drives nicely for sure, but I just can't stand the simplistic approach of the cockpit, Not for me in the near future.

I thought is odd/strange/missing something at first also but after a couple weeks, I would not have it any other way.

That should be the future, combining voice and gesture to control the car and use a big screen as feedback. But I'm from an old school and just can't get used to it. I looked at CX90 and don't like it for too few buttons. Of course too many button is not a good thing either. I think the GV80 and the Aviator have strike a good balance.

Same feeling here. I think Honda and Toyota both have gone to the wrong way with their design.

If you hadn't noticed, that's why I specifically mentioned the eGV70 (the electric variant) for a more like comparison.

I'd even throw in Hyundai for certain models (or at least aspects of certain models).

Actually like the concept (close to production) previewing the new QX60.

Nothing really new design-wise, but that's what's so refreshing about it; no weird lines or overly done details in an attempt to make it stand out in some way (those attempts usually fail such as the Lexus Predator grille and the wonky Infiniti C-pillar).

Pretty much does away with all the weirdness of the current QX60 and Infiniti is following the rest of the herd in switching to a longitudinal dash layout (makes for a more elegant/sleek dash) - kinda like a mash between the one in the GV80 and Aviator.

Thing is, probably not going to be much sportier than the RX.

Did not notice the e on there however I would not jump on board as Genesis/Hyundai are still in the learning stages compared to Tesla. Range is definitely a big factor in my choice. Looked at the new Volvo electric which is basically an XC40 electrified. Did not even bother as range was missing for my application.

H/K aren't exactly newbies when it comes to electrics, widely regarded as the best mainstream/non-performance oriented BEVs (which is why can't meet the demand for them over in Europe, esp. in Scandinavia).

And Carwow did a test on which automaker came closest to its stated range and H/K came in 1st (Tesla was middling).

H/K also have reserve battery capacity (to protect battery life), so can charge to 100% without hurting battery longevity.

Pretty sure the eGV70 is on a dedicated BEV platform (the G70 platform cannot incorporate an EV powertrain nearly as well as the new RWD platform, much less the dedicated BEV platform), and even if it isn't, there's the sporty CUV on the dedicated platform that is in development - which should have Taycan level of performance thanks to H/K's ownership stake in Rimac (Porsche also has a stake in Rimac).

Supposed to have a range of around 500km/310 miles and a sub-20 min quick charge time.

Ya unfortunately I find the wait too long, so going back to BMW this time G05 40i m sport. Also looks like the GV80 won't have a sport version anytime soon.

Has anyone compared the GV80 with GLE450? Almost identical size, price is comparable too. What are the advantages of the GV80 over GLE450?
