  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What other SUV you are shopping against the GV80?

Might go back to another Audi Q7, I have a 2017 and like my other 7 Audis, all have been great. I might have to give up on the GV80 if deliveries run into the 1st quarter 2021

I called the Genesis dealer yesterday in McKinney (its just the Hyundai dealership). The guy I spoke with said not to expect a GV80 for test drive till january.

I wasn't going to wait for the GV80 anymore. I feel badly for them, but everyone is dealing with it. I just picked up a fully loaded Audi Q8 Prestige (every package and option). LOVE the 4 wheel steering and air suspension. I miss my Jag XFS and would have gotten the refreshed FPace with their new massage seats if covid hadn't shut down their plants. They too will be here in Jan. It's a stunning design and the interior is sooo much nicer than the older one. Love their new info system too. Info systems is the reason I had no interest in another Jag. Glad they have fixed this. The Q8 is pretty big, but with the 4 wheel steering it handles like a sports sedan. I won't get another SUV without air suspension as it's so much easier for me to get my rollator in and out. I'm a special case as most of you don't need an assisted device to walk and lowering the trunk may not matter to you.

They will do well wiht the GV80 and the 70. I hope they get finally set up a legit dealer network or they will just be very expensive Hyundai's to most folks in the US.

Shopping list:
GV80
2022 MDX
2020/21 Aviator - should be able to get good discounts at end of model year
2021 Tahoe Diesel
2021 Santa Fe (for the wife / 2nd vehicle)

Are the cargo space numbers of 34 cu ft behind 2nd row of GV80 correct? That would be less than a lot of mid sized SUVs. I need some family hauling space as the Santa Fe will have that much. I was thinking GV80 would be 36-38 as the Aviator is 42 cu ft. New MDX will be 38ish from the looks of it.

GLE 450
Audi Q7

Being old Mercedes customer I got a good price for 2021GLE 450, close to the one for GV80 Prestige. But after my previous experience with Mercedes I tend towards Genesis.

What happened with your Mercedes? It’s on my short list too.

Since 1990 I had different Mercedes models and I had no issues until they introduced the new line in 2014/2015.

The quality went down substantially in my opinion. The interior is looking great but rattle and squeak mostly when the cabin start heating up or cooling down. Panoramic roof rattle, brake issues, instrument cluster rattle, transmission shifting issues. I had a very bad experience with the 2016 C300 I owned. After 2 years of back and forth with Mercedes I gave up and I trade in the car. I moved into 2018 GLC and not quite happy mostly because the similar plastic noises in the cabin. Still had similar issue with the instrument cluster and Mercedes replaced under warranty. Panoramic roof was rattling - fixed under warranty. At least the transmission shifting issue is fixed since they moved to 9-speed model. None of these happened with the 2012 E class or the C/ML/GLK I had in the past years.

I drove few days ago a 2021 GLE 450 and is looking great, a lot of features available, but during the test drive the rear right door panel rattle and the center console was making a subtly squeaking noise when go over bumps at low speed, and this is on a car that is $110K+.

Even if GV80 looks great, I’m not sold yet and not taking any decision until test driving one of these cars. Hopefully by end of November some demos will be available in Toronto aria.

That is really a big change, completely different styles.

I am considering the new Toyota Sienna:

Does your time-table allow you to wait for the new Sedona?

Closest thing that you can get here to a luxury minivan.

YEH: Thanks for the suggestion. I was not very familiar with the Sedona and will look it over and compare.

Have officially defected from further GV80 pursuits. As expected, the dealer markup (located in Georgia) on this new SUV entry into the USA market no longer makes this vehicle a competitive luxury "value brand" as originally and currently marketed. My excitement and anticipation was very high and had pre-ordered a GV80 Prestige option back in late March. This would have been 4th Genesis vehicle purchased dating back to rollout in 2015 (all G80's). Last week I custom ordered a new 2021 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport (fully loaded) for less money than GV80 Prestige and currently build is in process for delivery before year end. Incentives were too good to pass up. Disappointed in Genesis and their dealer network. But not surprised nor unexpected based on history of Telluride rollout. In the end, Genesis has lost this previous loyal customer. Oh well... This has been a great forum. Special thanks to this forum and blessings to all during the holiday season. Looking forward to 2021.

Your concerns are understood and the dealer network needs a quality injection, but the market rules and prices will normalize.

so true rjabend...
I do hope Genesis gets their dealership model sorted out. Most combined (Hyundai/Genesis) dealerships dont currently provide a luxury experience in comparison to competitor brands in this segment - IMO. The anticipation and the buildup simply exceeded delivery expectations in my case.

No problem.

Charlie did a comparison with the outgoing Sienna.

If the new Sienna is anything like the current Highlander, the biggest change (aside from the hybrid powertrain being made standard, along with the switchover to the TNGA platform) is the upgrade in materials at the interior, but the new Highlander generally has not regarded as a big leap forward over its predecessor.

And here's his full review.

Oddly enough, befitting to the thread as Kia made the Sedona (supposedly will adopt the Korean nameplate, Carnival) more SUV-like, referring to it as a Grand Utility Vehicle.

Very understandable. Congratulations, good luck, enjoy and be safe. If you have any questions about your new ride stop by the G05 forum on Bimmerpost. 2019+ BMW X5 (G05) and X6 (G06) Forum - BMW X5 Forum (G05)

Hopefully the prices will normalize in the next few months and the GV80 sales help with the dealership situation.

I will probably stay with a Mercedes, most likely a GLE450. I love the fact that they have an Air Suspension available and there have been some GV80 reviews that have been critical of the ride quality. And now I hear of price gouging on the GV80. If they try that crap on me, after having the thing reserved for going on a year, I’ll simply walk away from the brand, most likely for good.

There has only been one (shady) review about ride handling that was not good.

All other praise it. So not sure what you are referring to.
