If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What other SUV you are shopping against the GV80?

I will probably stay with a Mercedes, most likely a GLE450. I love the fact that they have an Air Suspension available and there have been some GV80 reviews that have been critical of the ride quality. And now I hear of price gouging on the GV80. If they try that crap on me, after having the thing reserved for going on a year, I’ll simply walk away from the brand, most likely for good.
If you haven't already, this video is probably worth taking a look.

The 2022 MDX is going to be debut on 12/8. I read some reviews and the interior looks fantastic. But I also noticed something interesting. 1. engine power is low for the non-S type. 2. second row seats not cooled. 3. No touch screen, 4. seem no parking assistance, and 4, that driving mode selection knob is too big.

Have officially defected from further GV80 pursuits. As expected, the dealer markup (located in Georgia) on this new SUV entry into the USA market no longer makes this vehicle a competitive luxury "value brand" as originally and currently marketed. My excitement and anticipation was very high and had pre-ordered a GV80 Prestige option back in late March. This would have been 4th Genesis vehicle purchased dating back to rollout in 2015 (all G80's). Last week I custom ordered a new 2021 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport (fully loaded) for less money than GV80 Prestige and currently build is in process for delivery before year end. Incentives were too good to pass up. Disappointed in Genesis and their dealer network. But not surprised nor unexpected based on history of Telluride rollout. In the end, Genesis has lost this previous loyal customer. Oh well... This has been a great forum. Special thanks to this forum and blessings to all during the holiday season. Looking forward to 2021.
I am in the same boat. Mine is supposed to arrive at the dealer later this week (week of 12/7). I ordered in February and have been reading reviews and watching videos ever since. I'm super psyched. Now, I hear they are doing "market adjustments". While I'll be disappointed, I will walk away. My first step though, will be to check with other dealers. There could be some in larger markets that are selling them for list. If not, I don't have much of a backup plan. I drove a BMW X5, and was unimpressed. I can't see myself as a Mercedes owner, and both the Infinity and Acura are underpowered compared to the Genesis. Perhaps, I'll just wait until the the shiny-new-object syndrome wears off to get a GV80.

Perhaps a road trip is in order down to St. Augustine. As I wrote elsewhere here, I just bought the first GV80 to show up at the dealership down here and there was no ones name on it or deposit posted. This is a fairly low population area (for FL) without a lot of mega-rich folks hogging all the good stuff. Best yet, this dealership has a policy of charging MSRP without "incentives". I know that they have more cars coming in. Perhaps you should give them a call. Ask for George ot Randy in sales.

Looks like we may have the GV80 in the states next month, just wondering what other SUV you are shopping against the GV80?

I was almost decided to get a Aviator, which is probably the most luxurious SUV the US ever built in its size. It has similar technology, some not as fancy as the GV80, but practical, it got the 30 way massage seats in the first row and captain chair in the second row, larger and more powerful. The first year quality worry stopped me and got me hooked on the GV80. But since the production is limited, the waiting may be long and the price may jump. So a 2021 aviator may be back in the game again. A Aviator Reserve II with convenience package is almost identical in price to a Prestige GV80, and it definitely has a spare.

What is your back up plan?
Looked at all luxury brands in the segment that can tow 6,000+. Whittled it down to Audi Q8 and Lincoln's Aviator, then saw the GV80 coming out; researched that and hoped to get lucky to actually see one and test drive. Was overall impressed with the Audi and Lincoln designs, interior quality/design and comfort. And options available.

But then a VIK Black/beige interior Prestige GV80 suddenly showed up in Daytona Beach! Dealer called me to get there asap to drive it before it's gone. Was very impressed on all fronts and drove just as nice as anything else we looked at. Took the leap and bought it. Hoping to give more reviews as I drive it.

Welcome to the club, BonRVivants. So far I like my GV80 (3.5L AWD Advanced). Just not quite as much as the G90 Ultimate I traded in. But, hey, they are different animals and I did it for a reason (Man, I miss my extra garage bays so I could have kept both).

While I am indeed an engineer and have dealt with every version of over the top electronic crap they put in cars up to and including now, I'd have to say getting used to setting all the features in the new GV80 takes a whole new level of competency. An engineering degree helps (or I guess being the average 12 year old these days.).

Thank you!
Yes, the manual(s) are thick like “War and Peace”. It will be a while before I master this thing, but it’s worth it. Enjoying attention it’s getting, too.

I wasn't going to wait for the GV80 anymore. I feel badly for them, but everyone is dealing with it. I just picked up a fully loaded Audi Q8 Prestige (every package and option). LOVE the 4 wheel steering and air suspension. I miss my Jag XFS and would have gotten the refreshed FPace with their new massage seats if covid hadn't shut down their plants. They too will be here in Jan. It's a stunning design and the interior is sooo much nicer than the older one. Love their new info system too. Info systems is the reason I had no interest in another Jag. Glad they have fixed this. The Q8 is pretty big, but with the 4 wheel steering it handles like a sports sedan. I won't get another SUV without air suspension as it's so much easier for me to get my rollator in and out. I'm a special case as most of you don't need an assisted device to walk and lowering the trunk may not matter to you.

They will do well wiht the GV80 and the 70. I hope they get finally set up a legit dealer network or they will just be very expensive Hyundai's to most folks in the US.
I was seriously looking at the Q8 Prestige, too. In Dragon Orange. Was waiting on the GV80, with calls to dealers all over Florida and southern GA. I was lucky one landed in my backyard; Daytona Beach. Of all places. Jumped on it fast to get it. So many dealers have no idea when they are coming in, or what trims/colors they will be. Mine was exactly what we wanted: VIK Black Prestige on beige, at MSRP. Hope you enjoy the Q8! Nice rides.

Thank you! Yes, it’s going to take a while to figure out this beast. But loving the attention from all the other drivers of the competing brands!

I was fortunate enough to snag my GV80 in Daytona Beach. Dealer didn’t know when one was coming in other than by the end of year...maybe. And it was going to be possibly a silver 2.5. Was on their list to call asap when they expected something so I could look at and test drive. Order a Prestige one if I decided to do it.
Turns out the owner of dealerships had strict orders to sell the first one to his neighbor .....so the guy shows up and doesn’t like the gorgeous color of the VIK Black (on beige/black) Prestige! So I get a call and run up there with my Fiancé. Love at first site. Was exactly what we would have ordered.

As an owner of a '17 BMW X5, currently cross shopping a 2021 and the GV80, I am curious to know what unimpressed you about the G05 X5, thx

$20k+ savings should do it for most.

All due respect and contrary to the $20K+ savings mentioned. Current BMW X5 incentives for MY21 were very attractive compared to GV80 Prestige MSRP (not even considering the inflated current dealer markup on new arrival GV80 in many cases). Custom ordered my BMW X5 (w/Executive Pkg and other desirable options) in November at nearly 15% below its MSRP at time of order. It's personal choice, but caution to perhaps stereotype this type of savings on GV80 compared to other options in this segment... at least in my case. There are certainly other options to consider (with attractive year-end savings) if cross-shopping.

When looking at the top trim the prices are about the same given the discounts on the X5s. The markups give the price edge to the X5.

Edit: @G80FAN beat me to it, I must be getting old. lol

From the variety of posts I would assume that most of you are younger than I am and you'll find that as you get older unless you also have a private jet and large yacht at your disposal, you tend to buy differently than you might have a few decades ago. There was a time when I had to say I owned a Ferrari or Porsche (and I did), but not so much anymore. I've owned 18 BMWs, most of them 7-series, including 3 X5s (2 V8s and a diesel). I finally sold the diesel about 3 months ago because I hadn't driven it in about a year (5 cars, one driver) and I was still a bit perturbed that my last X5 oil change at the dealership cost $1500! Owning a BMW not buried on the company expense account or for longer than the 3 years included maintenance is insane.

That said, I've been a Genesis guy for the last 10 years. This GV80 is my forth Genesis (Genesis 4.6, Genesis 5.0, G90 5.0 Ultimate, and now the GV80 3.5L). Why the GV80 instead of another X5 to replace the one I sold? Well, I always liked the X5s but they required a lot more scheduled and unscheduled maintenance than I liked for sure. The closest BMW dealer to me in St. Augustine is about 50 miles. Flatbedding or driving to Daytona or Jacksonville is more effort than I care to invest in car ownership these days. Saving $20K doesn't hurt either ;-)

You completely nailed it mistersteve. Those who think it's all about MSRP or even comparing used German cars to Genesis don't mention the real cost that comes with long-term ownership. There's a reason the German cars have developed a reputation of "lease and throw away after three years"

did you pay less or more than msrp?

I agree, I only saw the one review that was critical of the ride/handling. I've watched dozens of reviews from the U.S., Canada, Korea and Australia. There were a combination of professional and armature reviewers and the ride/handling has been universally praised.
I only have a couple of hundred miles on my 3.5 Prestige, and I my first impression is it drives like a dream. I bought it as our "retirement car". We plan on several extended road trips in 2021. it should be perfect for long days on the road.
