  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking for help from anyone with similar experience. I'm being offered a 2015 V6 Ultimate in the color I want (Manhattan Brown) with ~2000 miles on the clock. It has been driven by a senior manager and used as a demonstrator. Obviously it would be sold as a new car. What reduction in price should I push for? Dealer has already agreed to the USAA True Car price of $44660 for the Ultimate as a starting point. I get the impression they would like to move the car. Any input would appreciated.

Unfortunately not much. I had the same experience cross shopping a 2015 5.0 Ultimate demo (4500 miles) vs. a new one. I actually got a better price upfront for the new one. Ultimately I could have bought the demo for about $1500 less. I chose new even though the both looked perfect. I would say aim for at least $2K off the best deal you can find on a new one. Cool thing about a demo is that you get full warranty and are the first reported owner. Good luck with your decision.

I negotiated a price of a new V6 Ultimate to $45,042. You should get the same or better on a demo (granted, this is a fantastic deal). I have negotiated the price on 3 2015 Genesis (one for myself and 2 for other people).

If you qualify for rebates or incentives you can buy a new Ultimate for about $44,400. I would not pay more than $42,400 for your demo. I would offer $41,400 and go up to $42,000 at most. If they don't take the deal you can buy a brand new one. Those first 2000 miles are fun to drive. A demo should save you $2000-$3000 or no deal.

The pricing I mentioned was before rebates.

Everyone is eligible for Boost Up rebate of $500. But, you must open the account 30 days prior to purchase and the offer expires at the end of the year. So, if you want a Boost Up rebate you must open the account soon.

The obvious problem with buying a demo is not knowing how many people drove it prior to you, or for that matter how hard they drove it. Did someone take it out for a test and beat the hell out of it to see what it would do etc.? I've always been leery of demo's especially since you don't get that much off of them. If I'm going to spend 45-50K when I buy my 3.8 ultimate AWD (probably next year) I want to be the first driver of the car off the truck.

Ditto ^^... Be leery of any demo car. Is the car cleaned up an on the lot for sale or is he still driving it?

Thanks all for the assistance, it helped with my expectations. I bought the Manhattan Brown (great color) Ultimate 3.8 for $42100 this evening. Car had 2230 miles on it and the general manager was driving it. USAA/True Car pegged at $44658 with all credits and rebates. The Sales manager actually hit my target of $42600 after a lot of games but pissed me off with an incredibly lowball trade offer on my 2011 4.6. My wife (bless her) was angrier than I was and stood up with her coat. I followed her out. 45 minutes later there was a call from the dealership for $42100 if I would come back. Long drive but great price. :)
