I just recently bought an 09 Silver Genesis with the black leather enterior with the tech package.

I'm headed to get my windows tinted today. I'm still debating on what percent I should tint them down to. Any suggestions?

Anyway, the whole point of this post is I'm trying to figure out what rims to but on the car. Should I do chrome? or black with the chrome lip? If black, should I get deep lips? I need your thoughts.

I was in a rush so i didn't take any interior pics but here's my new baby...

Also, does anyone know where I can buy the Genesis badges and where do I take them to be put on?

Rims are such a personal preference thing.....only you can decide what looks good.

As far as emblems go, check out eBay.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'd only do 35% tint but that because 20% is illegal here and friends have received tickets before.

For wheels I won't list a particular wheel but let me say that wheels with a deep lip look good on luxury cars. Also if you do wheels make sure they fit the appearance of the car. I personally like brands like HRE, i-Forged, Maya, etc but that is me.

Check out these two posts for Hyundai Genesis Sedan wheel and tire package ideas.

As a rule, larger luxe cars have a lot of spokes. If one looks at the BMW 7 Series or the MBZ S Class, the best looking cars have deep dish wheels with a lot of offset. This gives the car a fatter, squatter look. In the Douglas Hyundai pix, I think they look ok, but they fall short of the proper set up.
1. You need to fill up the wheel wells. 20" wheels minimum.
2. Get at least 265's wide, preferably 275 or 285's.

Nothing looks worse or more faggity than thin 20"-22" tires!

Notice the DEPTH of the wheel lips/ edges.

Re: More

More examples of a "proper" luxe sedan look. The common denominator is that they
A. All fill up the wheel wells.
B. At least 20"
C. Low pro tires!!!!!!!

I know there will be a few people that pipe in about a harsher ride. The Genesis is already an exceptionally quite and refined ride. Going from 18's to 20's is not going to effect the ride. (Going from a 18’s to 22’s or 24’ will.)

I have done the 20” sets personally on many cars. In many ways, the rides improved.

I never pay more than $1,400 for the entire wheel and tire packages on a 20" set up. NEVER. That should include tax, mounting and balancing. That’s Chrome by the way.

I use Salinas tire in Whittier, Ca. They will put the wheels on your car before you buy, so you can check out the look first.

I also use Nexen or Kumho performance tires. Normally Nexen. I put them on our high performance rides, including our twin turbo BMW, which then got superior cornering over the $365 per tire stock Bridgestone’s.

Anyhting "higher" than 55's to 60's looks very "fruity."
Don't do it!

The reason they fill up the wheel wells is because they are lowered. On a big body car like a 7 series or S class 20" looks small and awkward. 22" is the way to go and it HAS to be lowered.

$1400 for a set of 20" wheels and tires and mount and balance? My tires alone cost almost that (Toyo T1-R) For any high quality wheel you will pay at least $2k for the wheels alone.

I personally think 22 would look good on the Genesis, if done right with the proper staggered fitment and offset. Here is an 08 LS460 to illustrate that point, although this car has standard airride, this car is not much bigger than the Genesis and this looks oh so perfect:

Sorry, I have to disagree about this. 20" is probably the most I would go. 22" is too large for the Genesis, and when you lower your car like that you ruin it. Do you seriously want to bottom out over every dip in the road? Do you want to worry about whether you can make it into a driveway without scraping your body kit?

I realize that if you're driving it on the track only, lowering it can improve the performance profile, but seriously, who drives their car on the track only? Real life has potholes, road construction, and other hazards that would just demolish that LS460.

I have to disagree from experience. My GS is lowered and has been for the 6 years I have owned it. I have had zero problems with anything. I dont and havent bottomed out, you wouldnt with a quality set of coilovers. Not many potholes here in florida, at least not where I drive, and where there are potholes I navigate around them even in a stock car. I guess some of us just have different tastes and enjoy looking at a car with quality mods that is lowered.

And there is air suspension for those worried about bumps and potholes;)

SS3walkman,

You need to buy the most expensive wheels that you can find! . . . I mean, who else is gonna bail out the economy???
