  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What size battery does a 2019 G70 4cyl take?

Hey All,

The battery on my 2019 G70 with a turbo 4 and AWD shows signs of weakening, and I've had to jump it to get going once or twice now. No problem - I'll just replace it. Replacing the battery is really easy. I've done it on several others cars that I've owned. Except that nobody seems to have a battery for this car. Several manufacturers sites (notably Interstate) don't list the G70 at all. Every auto parts store that I've looked at says they don't carry any batteries that will fit. I called my dealer's parts department and they gave me the Genesis part number, but couldn't tell me a size. Also, they told me it's backordered and they get maybe one every month or two. They suggested that it's specially made for Genesis by Interstate and that there isn't a drop in replacement. I don't tend to believe that, but given the difficulty finding one at any auto parts store, I can't rule it out either.

As far as I can tell, it's an AGM battery and it sure seems like the size and CCA specs are at least very similar to the H7 (94R) batteries I see at the stores. Can anybody tell me with certainty if the car takes a standard battery and, if so, what it is? Better yet, have any of you put a new battery into your G70? If so, what size was it?

For what it's worth the Costco battery finder lists a group H7 (94R) AGM battery for a 2019 Kia Stinger 2L

FWIW, if you have trouble looking up battery info for the G70, try looking up Kia Stinger (any model year). The battery compartment layout is identical between the two cars.

It's an H7. The Walmart EverStart is $137, and it's a Clarios made in Germany, which is exactly what the car has. However, the EverStart has 850CCA (vs 800 stock). But since both are 80Ah, there's no need to re-code anything. But many modern cars call for coding a new battery anyway, to restore full charging again. Not sure if Hyundai calls for that or not. If anybody knows for sure, please post. By the way, my SF 2.5T has an H6, but it's under hood instead.

Thanks. I'd seen that, but wasn't certain if it was coming from somebody who'd done the replacement or not. I take it you have?

Fantastic help. Thanks folks. I got an H7 AGM battery yesterday and installed it. Easy to do once I had the old one out. The car starts right up and shows no problems. Didn't even lose my radio presets, which is nice.

On the Stinger/G70? Not yet, thankfully. I have changed more car batteries - and dinked with 12 electronics - more than I care to remember.

I'm sure you've seen the battery compartment when you changed out your batt, there are two set of threaded hole to receive the hold down bracket. 3.3T is spec'ed with an H8, and 2.0T an H7. You can drop in an H8 in an 2.0T no problem. If I live up north, I'd probably do jut that. The extra CCA and reserve capacity would be good for extremely cold weather.

I had an '09 Genesis sedan that had yet another set of threaded holes for an H9 battery, for the optional V8 I believe. I went with a DuraLast AGM H9 in that car.

I need a battery for my 2020 G70. I can't find the battery anywhere. Does H7 AGM battery still work good in your car?
