  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What tire pressure are you using?

I have a 3.8 and the pressure from the dealer came with 33 on the fronts and 33.5 on the backs. The recommended pressure is 33 psi and I think that the tires are rated for 51 psi max. Anyone using anything different and is there a tangible difference in the ride? Also, if you over or under inflate the tires, how does the tire pressure sensor know if it's done on purpose or not? Thanks.

35 psi at all 4 corners. Too much pressure will effect ride comfort and increase wear in center of tread.

Cold Tire pressure inside garage 62 degrees in morning, 32 psi. Outside temp by midday 88.

Mine came loaded from the dealer at 35 psi. I reduced it down to 32 and I can tell a difference in the ride.

Mine came from the dealer with 40psi on all 4 and I like the ride....and the car!

34psi cold. Anything more and ride quality suffers. Anything less and fuel economy suffers.

I have been running 35 all around. Just changed tires at 6K miles. Alignment all in specs., both front and rear. Had dealer measure for wear and found. Fronts-wearing inside edges. Rear-wearing centers.
Dealer suggested changes to toe for fronts, a small adj. to rear. His opnion is factory specs are set to cause this wear. His changes would STILL be in spec. but more toward the other ends.
Hope this may help others, will post specs as changed.

31 psi and 30.2 MPG on last road trip with V8:D

Mine came from the Dealer at 38 psi and I thought the ride was rough compared to other Genesis test drives.

Reduced all four corners to 33 psi as per recommendation on the the door sticker and the ride is much improved!

I purchased new tires as I am leasing and did not want to have to replace tires at lease ied. So I put on the new ones so I could enjoy the performance increase and not experiance the big dollars to put new Dunlops on at lease end. I was told that at turn in they are real funny about tires (brand).
So I am storing originals to be re-installed before turn in.
I have not had alignment done yet (tis week) will post changes when done.

Purchased 245/45/18, Spedo was off before (campared to GPS) showed 2 MPH faster then actual. Now shows 3-4 MPH fast. I know the circomfrance is different but am not smart enough to calculate what true difference should be. (Anybody know how to do that??)

I purchased Nexxes 5000's, Have had these on my othe car for a while and very happy. The have a better tread wear, so should go 35K + miles. Quite on freeway and better dry grip. Don't know about rain yet but I'll report.

I've leased a half dozen cars or so and never once did I get complaints about the brand of tires I returned the car with.

Here's a good tire size calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

I have been reading all of the posts regarding the ride (suspension) as well as the posts regarding tire pressure.
I also was not pleased with the harshness of the ride and finally decided to check the tire pressure. I was surprised to find that all four tires were at 40psi (cold). I reduced this to the recommended pressure of 33psi and have to admit that the ride has improved and I can now live with it. I am now 100 percent pleased with the Hyundai Genesis.

Hmmm...funny you say that. The Original LS400, the dealers were adjusting the tire pressure down on most cars. I found the car to be too soft, so I would fill the tires to 32. Everytime I got the car back from the Lexus service it was at 29. Is it possible dealers are filling the tires too high on purpose hoping that people will reduce the pressure and find it more livable?
Similar to telling the wife....
Me: Honey the IRS called we're getting audited.
She: What!!!
Me: OK, I lied. I lost 500 bucks at a poker game last night, but don't you feel better?

Well TJPARK01, that may be however, if the tires had been left at the recommended 33psi in the first place, I wouldn't have been concerned about the ride.

PS: Sorry about that $500.

I've heard that the pressure is high off the boat to account for bleed in shipment and import storage. Dealers are supposed to correct that on delivery, but not only has that not happened in every case, I suspect that not every lot is diligent about keeping the tire pressure at recommended for each and every car, and most probably don't even bother until the car is sold.

32 cold

I dropped mine down to 31 on the left, 30 on the right to try to add a little extra drag on that side to compensate for the sensitivity to road camber (I usually ride in the left lane, of course).

I had my V6 realigned under warranty and they said it had been out in the back. When I drove it again it was better, but still pulls left when in the left lane.

I don't think the differential tire pressures helped this any, but it was worth a try.
