  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What tires did you replace the OEM with and how would you rate them?

After 25,000 miles I replaced my OEM tires with Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires. After just one week can't say I noticed any differences on dry pavement but it makes a WORLD of difference in a little bit of snow, slush and ice.

I took delivery of my car with the Dunlop’s for two days about 250 miles before they changed them to Michelin Sport A/S Plus. These tires are every bit as good for handling, performance, ride and comfort and in addition they are A/S and rated highly in snow although I have not driven in snow yet.

I don't live where it snows, but I don't have any real issues with the Dunlops on the Genesis. They have done everything they are supposed to do and in the dry and wet, they have been great. When it is time to trade, I will research what is available and go from there. I did replace some runflat Goodyears on my Vette with some Continential Extreme DWS and have been very impressed with them.

Pirelli P Zeros. Love them

I replaced my OEM flops with Michelin X-ICE 18"s I am very pleased with them so far; we in the northeast had a very bitter month of Dec. Living in Ohio you really never know when lake effect snow will cover the area. I was able to pull out of about 8 inches of snow with no ploblem. ($895 balanced and mounted)

I will strongly second praise of Michein x-ice. We just set a record for snow in December and I've had no trouble at all.

I bought Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus just after 10K. Stock size 235/50-18.

Has anyone purchased Michellin Primacy MXM4 size 245/50-18 for their Genesis 4.6 sedan? If so how is ride and noise? I know this is a larger tire but when checking the revs per mile and diameter it is very very close to OE.

Just put Goodyear Eagle GT's on and they've been great, so far. The steering and traction both feel much more "confident" in rain, slush, and snow. They seem a little quieter than the Dunlops on dry pavement, and about the same ride "firmness".

The last straw for my Dunlops was when I nearly ended up doing a 180 in our neighborhood while taking a corner on a snow covered street (1" of packed snow after our Dec 25th snow storm) while driving at a snail's pace. I gingerly touched the accelerator as I made the turn and the back end cut completely loose. I may as well have been on glare ice. The Dunlops had 21K on them at the time.

I'd tried to get some Conti Extreme Contact DWS's or some Yokohama AVID ENVigor's, but both were out-of-stock, no expected delivery at my local dealer.

Having the same installed this evening 235/50R18's and cain't wait...37,000 on the original Dunflops and an icy road on my commute this morning was the last straw...luckily I didn't end up in a ditch!

Will post once I've had an oportunity to break in the newbies.

I replaced my Dun-for-a-lap tires with Yokohama AVID ENVigor. They're a high performance all season tire recommended by the dealer with a 45k mileage warranty. So far they have performed pretty good and have a nice profile.

Bigel, you got 37K out of your Duncraps?? Holy cow mine didn't even make it pass 25k!!

Wanted the Conti's but could find anywhere Bought the PZero Nero All Season instead. So far very quiet. Have had any snow since I purchased but they have to be better than the Dunlaps....like being on a frozen lake trying to get traction.

How is the ride with the Pirellis?

Replaced with Conti DWS tires @ about 31K miles. I think we've put 6K - 7K on them so far. I must say that dry or in rain the DWS have been great. Quieter, less harsh and much better in rain. We just had about 6" - 8" of snow and I took the car out of the garage and did some a short trip around town before the plows cleared the snow. At first (car was in an unheated garage) the ESC light was coming on often and I thought, poo, these tires suck in the snow. So I took it easy for the first few miles. Then I realized the car seems to be doing much better and I punched it a bit more. If I tried the ESC light was still easy to get lit (4.6 V8), but at reasonable for the conditions the light was off. The car was stable and I was no longer slip sliding my way around the streets. My best guess was that the tires were too warm (say 40 deg's) when I pulled out of the garage and the snow wasn't sticking the treads. When the tires cooled off, things started to work as designed. These things are the best all-season tires that I've owned. Would buy again. Much better than the "no-season" Bridgestone tires on my other rear-wheel drive car ('06 GTO) that is a handful in the rain and I would never try to drive in snow without a tire swap.

All IMHO and other PC CYA's.

Snake, yes I actually bought the car pre-owned and negotiated the 'state' of the tires into the purchase price, but then dragged my feet for three months over-analyzing which tires to choose.

I've now had the Eagle GTs for three days and it should be no surprise, they're performing as if I was driving on the bare rims before. We've had more snow so far in Jersey then we have in the past typically and I've been quite satisfied with traction. The best part of the switch so far has been that is, my ears are no longer ringing from tire noise.

The look of the tire is sharp as well. All in all, very happy customer.

Installed Continental DW's and the reduction in road noise is significant, particularily with some of Florida's highways with expansion joints. Before I had them installed, I scraped the wheel rims pulling into a parking space with concrete curbs. The old Duncraps with a low profile offered no protection, unlike the Continentals which have a half inch lip all around above the outer edge of the tire rim. If you look at the attached pic, you can see the wheel with the scrape and the lip above it.

Orignal Dunlops went bald at 30K, almost sold the genisis as it was a loud bumpy ride. In the winter it slid all over the place. No traction. Put on Goodyear triple treads. 80K tires for $143.00 each at Sears. Cheaper than the $220 at the Goodyear store! Like a different car. Holds the road dry, wet, slush, packed snow like velcro. Quiet and smooth. Hyundai should offer these as a recommended upgrade on new cars to keep customers happy.

I have had my Genesis Sedan for 2 weeks and complained to the Service Director about the god awful ride from the Dunlop tires. He just called me back and said Hyundai would give me $100.00 back and my local dealer would give me $40.00 back for a total of $140.00 for each tire. They are ordering me the Conti Extreme Contact DWS and all I will have to pay is the difference. I thought that was a very fair deal. I have to admit, I thought I would have to fight a lot more to get this deal. It sounds as if Hyundai knows how bad the Dunlops are and are coming clean with the customers. I suppose you do have to be the squeaky wheel to get things moving..
He is throwing in a balance and install as well..

Pretty impressed with the quickness of making me happy.. This is a good first experience with Hyundai.
