  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I am going to be purchasing a 2015-16 genesis 5.0 but wanted to get some input on what to look for. My buddy owns a car lot and will be getting the car of my choice, the main options I am looking for is 9.2 nav and adaptive suspension. I see that there is a button for drive mode, does this mean that the car has adaptive suspension?

If you see a 2015 5.0 V8 with HUD (heads up display) it is Ultimate Trim level and has the adaptive suspension. However, most professional auto reviewers thought that the normal setting was too soft, and the sport setting too firm. They liked the standard suspension better. Also, if you plan on keeping the car for a long time, the expense of repairing the adaptive suspension is significant. So you might make sure you need the other Ultimate Trim features besides adaptive suspension before insisting on the that Trim Level.

You can google the original automotive reviews of the 2015 to verify what I mentioned about their comments on the adaptive suspension. Hyundai Motor America dropped that feature starting in 2016 (and also not available on the 2017 Genesis G80) for cars sold in the USA.

All of them have the drive mode button.

5.0L engine is available in the 2015, not the 2016.

I really like the standard suspension on my non-ultimate 2015. It strikes a nice balance between comfort and control.

The standard screen size suits my needs just fine.

I almost bought the Ultimate because it was in the color I wanted (red) but I had no use for the additional features whatever so I went for blue & also saved money.

So is there a way to get the 9.2in display and lexicon audio in the non ultimate with standard suspension?

There are two Lexicon systems:

  • 14 Speaker system - Plays stereo source material, and has the ability to convert it to 7.1 surround sound.
  • 17 Speaker system - Plays stereo source material, and has the ability to convert it to 7.1 surround sound. Also plays source material that was recorded in 7.1 discrete surround sound, and also DVD's. There is not much music available that was recorded with 7.1 discrete surround sound, but it sounds impressive.
So even the non-Ultimate version with 14 speaker system sounds pretty good.

Adaptive suspension is meh, I don't like it, was expecting more. HUD is what I really like about the Ultimate package. 9.2" Navigation unit, made by LG, is very-very slow and feels outdated. 8" feels faster and comes with CarPlay/Android Auto.
