  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Title pretty much sums it up. Found out about these Genesis sedans recently and spotted one with 76k miles for $13,800. Wondering if it would be a good choice for a fun to drive daily and if so, what to look out for when buying used, test driving, etc..

Fun to drive is relative and means different things to different people but it's a powerful rear drive car.
Things to look out for would be the usual things for any car really. Press every button and make sure everything works. Most likely the rear camera doesn't work (common problem, could be the wiring for the cam in the trunk is crimped/shorted). For the heated/cooled seats, sit in the seat and turn on the heat to full for a few minutes, if they shut off on their own before the 3 minute mark then the heat regulator or pad is shot. Do the same for the vented seats. Listen for any clunks in the suspension, any shudders in the steering or drivetrain. Do some slow accelerations, and do some "I mean business" runs followed by just steady cruising. Gently press the brakes and pay attention to any pedal pulsations (sign of warped rotors). Listen for any squeaks in the suspension as well (sign of worn bushings). Look through the grille and see if there's a lot of bugs in the rad (signs of mainly highway use - A good thing). Also take a look at the brake pedal itself and see if one side is more worn than the other (signs of heavy city use). If the brake pedal is pretty much even across the board then it's a another good sign of mainly highway driving. Check the belt in the engine bay for any cracks or if it looks shiny and if you can, get a vehicle report so you know the whole history.

Be sure to check the oil dipstick tube for burnt oil or low oil. Its a GDI motor so be sure to ask about the intake valve cleaning. If possible check under the car for any leaks or signs of leaks.
