  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

$34k for a 6,000 mile new car isn't bad. I'm just wondering if it's possible to get lease deal for $300/month for these cars?

I get it. But it still comes with 10 year warranty

Not necessarily 10 years as it depends on how you drive (miles per year). However, you are starting with a reduced warranty as 6,000 miles is already used up. Therefore, you can't compare to an actual new car with less than 50 miles on it and the price should be lower to reflect that you only have:

  • 94K left on your 100K powertrain warranty
  • 54K on your 60K new vehicle limited warranty
  • 30K left on your 36K electronics warranty

and 2-3 years later...the same car bought "new" with the same miles will be worth the same amount of money if the car was resold
So..depending on the amount of the discount the 6,000 mile "used" car could be well worth looking at

New car depreciation is high on the Genesis

I say look at ways to minimize it

In your rush to remind us (for the 100th time) that our cars depreciate quickly, you COMPLETLY missed my point - which was that a car with 6,000 miles better have a steep discount.... Because it's actually a USED car, regardless of what the dealer says!

L.A. Area dealer has an ad up today for a new 2015 5.0 RWD at $38,101. MSRP is $52,705. Discount $14,604 from MSRP!! There must be some very fat factory incentives. Guessing $10K or so. Holdback is 3% of MSRP, so it looks like they're giving that up too.

I would check with the dealer first on this. When they were trying to sell me 5.0 Ultimate with 5,000+ miles, they told me the warranty period starts after I purchase the car.

Which is, for example, 105K powertrain warranty, since the car already has 5K on the odo.

I would think it's bogus and shady practice for a dealer to start the warranty period before the car is even titled.

^^ Thats what I was told as well. I'm looking to get into a demo car this week or two. Shooting for $38K out the door. The few my local dealer have in stock are all under 5k miles.

Yes, this is how it should work. If there's 5K miles on the car but it's never been registered, you'll get warranty miles + 5K. That's how every new car I've bought have been written up.

The thing which scares me about these 5K mile new cars is how did the miles get put on? If a car has 50 or 100 miles, I guess they've been driven a bit hard on test drives. My fear is that a 5K mile new car has been driven by MotorTrend or Car and Driver and the like, abusing the car for those miles.

Yeah, warranty kicks in after you purchase the car. On new car purchases in the past it has always been "plus mileage" on car. So 36,000 warranty would be 36,009 (9 miles when purchased)

It actually depends on when the dealer puts the car in service - not the titling.

There was a 2 month gap between when my 2016 came in (November 2015) an I was allowed to pick it up (Jan 2016) - but the dealer had "activated" the car when it came in and only titled it 3 months later (February - another screw up on their part) - When I checked, the warranty was showing as starting in November and I had to have HMA get involved to change the date to January.

I would read the warranty details closely or, better yet, call HMA directly to confirm the car has not already chewed into it's warranty mileage?

5.0 or 3.8? Ultimate? $38K OTD is a bit high in my opinion for a demo car...

I would shoot for $35 OTD as a base, my 2 cents.

5.0 for sure. There aren't many new 3.8 RWD 15s left. A lot of the AWD's and Base models are popping up lately. Definitely going to haggle my way to the best deal lol
