The first thing that made me think seriously about buying a Genesis was after I test drove the Equus. That car made me change my perception of Hyundai. I was amazed at the quality of that car and the value that it represented.
I tend to try to buy cars that are 'breaking out'. For example, I bought my Acura TL Type S (Blue pearl with the
spoiler and body kit thank you very much!) in late 2001 when they weren't as popular as they later became. I like to think that I am willing to take the risk on the car that not everybody has. Being contrarian is part of the appeal for me.
I almost pulled the trigger on the Equus until I heard that for 2012 it was going to have an 8 speed transmission with a 5.0 engine. Later I heard about the R-Spec. That locked it in for me.
Mark my words (though I am not the first to say it), within three years from now no one will laugh at Hyundai and you will see many more of their luxury cars on the road.
Cheers,
Newman
