  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What was your last ride and what do you miss about it?

I'm with you, Dan. I plan on buying an older 'Vette, maybe a C3, to tool around with on weekends in a couple years. But honestly, having a '99, sure, the 'Vette was faster, but not so much so that the significant improvement in ride quality doesn't make up for it. I really enjoy driving my Genesis, even fast. :D

'08 Corvette. I miss the Tire shredding power, manual transmission, and intoxicating exhaust(Corsa) sound.
Genesis is quite the opposite and frankly, I'm really enjoying the quietness and smooth ride, plus the awesome Lexicon system. :)

I definitely will be getting a sports car as a weekend toy sometime in the future.

Dan

I split my driving time 3 ways: Genesis, Jaguar XKE and a Honda St 1300 motorcycle. Maye that's why I think the Genesis suspension is so perfect.

1986 300-ZX

We miss the bright front-seat reading lights that illuminate the book/map without bathing the whole area unnecessarily.

92 Buick Lesabre-Miss the ability to park it anywhere without having to worry about door dings. :D

Yes, the V8 is pretty fast, but it doesn't give you that neck-snapping, pushes-you-in-the-seat thrust like the LS3 Vette.
Of course this isn't something that could be expected in a luxury/sport sedan that costs less than $80k.

I do miss the thrill of driving the Vette, but I am enjoying much more creature comforts and refined, quiet, smooth ride of the Genny.
Had nothing but 2 doors on my 5 older cars and 2 of 'em were 2 seaters.
It was time for me to move on.. but I'll be back for sure :)

Speaking of that, I've been itching for a two seater convertible. Been checking the classifieds for an inexpensive convertible. Yesterday I salivated over a 2001 Honda S2000. Ahhh, to be top down motoring again. Now I just have to convince my wife the car is for her!!!

2007 Ford Expedition.
- Command Seating Position
- Ground clearance, good for storms, potholes, dips and mountain driving.
- People genuinely got out of your way

Don't miss -
Gas mileage was unacceptable
Parking the thing was similar to a school bus.
Fit and finish was too truck-like

Got that itch last year and ditched the motorcycle. Got a mint 96 Mercedes SL which I drive on nice days. Only 33,000 miles on the clock. There are many perfect examples of this fine car around for around $10,000. They were over $100,000 new. ;) This car was made from 1990 to 2002 basically only minor changes in the 12 year period. A classic for sure.

Had an '07 S2000 a while ago.
While the car isn't that fast, the fun you can have with that ride is just unreal.
Seriously, you can have enough fun driving it under legal speed limits.

I kinda regret that I didn't keep that car.
Had H&R springs with Bilstein shocks, OEM hardtop, etc. on mine and whenever I see one on the road, I still think it's one of the most beautiful roadsters recently made.

You will love the s2000. But try to stick with the '04+ model years, as they have 2.2L(although the redline is lower @ 8k) which isn't prone to cracking valve stops.
They also have redesigned front/rear bumpers, headlights, and taillights along with some other minor changes.

Good luck and let me know if you get one.
I have a set of all-season tires in very good condition. You can have them if you'd like. (These are 17" sizes, again, for MY 04+)

Dan

I actually got rid of 2 cars, a 2007 Saturn Outlook and a 2008 CTS. I miss the utility of the Outlook and miss the handling and go-kart like sportiness of the CTS.

Now my sporting desires are filled by my motorcycle as others here on the forum. A 2010 Aprilia RSV4 (180HP!)

Sold 2001 BMW 5301 and bought the Genny.
Miss: better ride - control of pavement imperfections, more comfortable seats.
There will be a new 5 series BMW in the fall. I won't miss the cost of tne new one: roughly twice what I paid for our 3.6 Genny.

Are you sure? On the 2009's, only the passenger mirror rotates down with the mirror adjustment switch in one position and they both rotate down with it in the other position.

I have read here that this feature was present, but it must be limited to the 2009. My mirrors both rotate down, if the selector is to the left or right; neither rotates if it is set at the center position. Of course, it is remotely possible that my 2010 is defective. I would be interested to know if anyone has a 2010 that allows only one mirror to rotate down.

I bet you don't miss the torque steer though, huh? ;)

(That was about my old Acura TLs)
Actually I find that the Genesis drives (road feel) about the same as my Acuras. Maybe I don't push the car enough to appreciate the difference. In fact, I can't really tell any difference between rear wheel and front wheel drive, other than that the Genesis seemed to not like snow.

I find that the Genesis feels "right" and always under control and does so with a smoother and quieter ride than the Acura.

What year Acura TL are you talking about?

I have a 2003 and our Genesis pitches around much worse over wavy roads....sort of like a boat rolling with waves. However, the Genesis, with it's insulated glass and stiffer sheet metal, is much quieter than the Acura. Basically, the TL feels more flickable, more in control...definitely lighter (which it is by a good 3-400lbs) while the Genesis feels more solid, like it was cut out of a single piece of metal, but heavier and more ponderous. On a windy bumpy road I would pick the Acura. On the open smooth freeway, the Genesis. I'm hoping upgrading the suspension will make the Genesis more manageable....more light on it's feet.

2006 Toyota Avalon:

I miss the much more isolated plush ride and Toyota's 3.5 V6 is a little more refined than Hyundai's 3.8. One very minor thing is the Toyota had climate control buttons on the steering wheel, certainly not a deal breaker but handy.

Ended up picking up a first generation Mazda Miata. Single owner. Garaged. Never driven in the winter. 70K total miles. I love it and the wife loves it. Looks really tiny parked next to the Genny.

I pulled my bike out the garage Saturday because I haven't ridden it in over three months. It's a satisfying feeling heading up the California coastline knowing you have one of the fastest street legal vehicles in the World--

what do you ride? ive got a zx636r

upgraded to 4.6 tech from a 2003 jaguar xj8, still have the car but will sell it soon. i prefere the Genesis

My first Acura was a 2003 and the second one was a 2006. I found that both of them handled very well for the kind of driving I do. I agree that the Acuras feel lighter (as they should). I test drove the 2010 TL before I bought the Genesis. That TL felt considerably more powerful than the 2006, which was already impressive.

Well my last vehicle was a 2008 Toyota Camry XLE w/o navigation. The feature that I do miss are the daytime running lights (DRL'S). ;)
