Used 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track
and the other is
2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec

2012 track better looks, navi, nicer sound system

2013 more power, snazzy seats, newer

Again, a personal opinion, but I like the 2012 way better. I bought my 2012 instead of waiting a just few weeks to get a 2013 for that reason and others. I think the 10-12 design looks way more refined and classy at all trim levels

As a track owner (even though mine was one of the first made so it didn't come with the nav or paddle shifters), I'd take the track over the R-Spec. But as others have said, it comes down to personal preference. The R-Spec is basically a stripped down version of the car, whereas the track is the top of the line so it comes with EVERYTHING!

Many 09-12 owners literally hate the front end of the 13's, but they love the tail lights, LOL. And sure, the 13 comes with an 8 speed transmission versus 6 speed and direct injection versus fuel injection which equates to 348 versus 306 hp. The interiors are slightly different also.

So, in closing, I would REALLY take the time to compare the differences in the two vehicles before making your final decision; they both have their pros and cons but it will come down to what you prefer in a car!

Oh, and just so you know, if you go used, your warranty will be 5 year 60K versus the 10 year 100K on a new vehicle.

Well, the Track doesn't have everything, but then no Coupe model does. The R-Spec isn't that stripped down, but is lighter and stiffer without the sunroof or powerseats, and loses heated mirrors, cruise and nav, but adds the special racing interior seats and trim (as in the 2.0 R-Spec) and has all the performance/handling goodies. It's the "race" model, manual only, but still has bluetooth, ipod/usb, 8 airbags, etc. The Track adds back the luxury goodies like sunroof, etc, loses the racing interior and some other things from the GT, and adds back an auto/manual option. It's truly confusing

Either way, cordova, you want one of those two, 3.8 R-Spec or 3.8 Track, as they will be the fastest, and (along with the 2.0T R-Spec) have the best handling and looks. You will not be wanting horsespower or suspension mods in two weeks with a 3.8 like many do who get the other models. Again, it's confusing how they all overlap with each other.

The dealers are also limited as to what they have and can get. We all tease each other about the various models, but the truth is none of us had much of a selection. I was very lucky to be on the lot when a rare black 3.8 R-Spec happened to be there. All the other models they had were 2.0 Base and Premiums.

Personally, I would not purchase a used sports car, unless I personally know the seller. Sport cars are usually driven pretty damn hard...

Personally, I would not purchase a used sports car, unless I personally know the seller. Sport cars are usually driven pretty damn hard...

2010 - 2012 3.8 V6 Hyundai Genesis Coupe = 306 HP; the GDI is supposedly what raised the HP rating. And I bought my coupe used (CarMax); it only had 1600 miles on it and have had NO problems whatsoever...could this be a testament to the durability of Hyundai's? LOL! Oh, and it was the 4,752nd one made; manufacture date 12/26/2008!

There is no difference in the performance specs; the only difference is what is contained in the vehicle. The RSpec is lighter because it does not have the "luxury accroutrements" that the Track model has and the upholstery is different. Do a comparison on the Hyundai website and you'll see what the differences are.

The 3.8 R-Spec is at least 200 pounds lighter than the Track model, and only about 100 pounds heavier than the 2.0 4cyl R-Spec. Make no mistake, 200 pounds makes a real difference in performance and handling (all else being equal), and another big difference is the manual R-Spec vs the typical automatic in the Track. If you don't need power seats, sunroof, nav or cruise control, and if you enjoy manual shifting, then the R-Spec is the way to go, as it's the fastest of the six Coupe models in stock form.

I had my choice when buying, between the R-spec or Track edition both 2013 both had ~24,000 miles. Track was white and the R-spec was black. Both were 6 speed manuals. I looked high and low for the track edition and knew off hand that was what I wanted. The R-spec is still sexy, but in my opinion the Track was a little more comfortable of a ride and if your a taller person (like me) the Track edition is the way to go. You can actually get your knees under the steering wheel (pain in a manual) by all of the driver seat adjustments that can be made and the telescopic steering column. And also I feel like I have more headroom due to lowering the seat as far down and back as it goes.
