  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

Yesterday I went to pick a friend up and it was raining, the ground and tires were wet, after i pulled out of his neighborhood i made the dumb mistake of hitting the gas too much and I lost control of the car, we spun around and we went over the big grass lane divider and we ended on the other road, thankfully we didn't hit anybody and we weren't hurt. I tried moving the car but i heard scratching, went i went to check i saw that the piece that connects the suspension to the wheel was on the floor, I had to get the car towed and now i want to see what i need to replace because it looks like a couple parts broke including the disc. I also broke my two right rims which i'll need to replace also, I don't want to get insurance involved in this.

I'll try to take better pictures when I get home, I didn't have much time yesterday.

looks like the lower control arm broke along with the rear swaybar maybe? Would need pics on a lift to see whats actually missing/disconnected

^^^ OFG sounds about right. Shouldn't be too much trouble to fix.

Your tire is almost bald, probably part of the reason you crashed.

Ripped lower control arm off the rear hub and most likely taking the stabilizer link for the rear sway with it. Wouldn't be surprised if you damaged/bent the other two rods in the rear. Possibly messed up two bolts that connect shock to the car. More pictures from underneath would also help.

Side note don't throw the lower control arm away, interested in paying shipping cost to get my hands on it. If its the same as the sedan of course.

This opens up a host of questions for me lol

I would get rid of those stupid bald tires ASAP, put on even used ones or something and go thru insurance company. It might get pretty expensive to fix it, though.

I am with you on that. Insurance might be your best bet. The two wheels alone will be more than your deductible....

Do a insurance claim and have is fixed so its like oem and so its safe. If the impact was hard enough to rip a control arm then there may be other unseen damage.

Double Agreed.

As it should being such an odd request.

Triple agreed. Diegoa, call your insurance agent and make a claim. This was an accident, one caused by punching it on bald tires in the rain, but an accident. This will be many thousands of dollars to fix, maybe as much as $10k including a set of tires.

So i took the wheel out today and it doesn't look so bad, the axle looks okay and the assembly, I'm going to have to see if i can find the used parts.

it looks like I need the knuckle, the cover that goes behind it, a new rotor disc and 3 arms, I found a guy with nice 2013 rims so i'll just change all of them and I'll get the new set of tires, i recently changed the front ones so those are good.

Well, in that case, you sound like a hotshot mechanic, so maybe you can do this and keep the cost down, but it's still going be more than your deductible and rate hikes. Still, you have your reasons, so I wish you well :)

Anyway, the rear wheel took quite a whack, so be sure to check the diff and hogshead. Yours is an open LSD, rather than the Torsen, so it's possibly not as tough and may have odd damage.

Wow didn't think the hub was going to be broken. Yeah major impact. What are you going to do with the other suspension arms? Sending you a PM.

I really don't get not filing an insurance claim. There is most likely frame damage and possibly uni-body damage. Good luck to the next owner of this car.
