  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Whats the difference between Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) and Parking Collison-Avoidance Assist-Rear (PCA-R)

Hello, I'm researching options on a potential GV70 purchase and can't figure out the difference between RCCA (a standard feature) and PCA-R (an option on Prestige package ).

I've watched the Genesis official videos and they show both features used for detecting objects while backing out a parking spot..LOL. Anyone can explain why I would want to pay for PCA-R? If anything I would think RCCA is more sensitive than PCA-R because it sounds RCCA detects cross traffic as well.

Thanks.

One warns and stops you if you’re backing into something behind you and the cross traffic alert warns and stops you if there is a person or vehicle approaching from the side out of your line of vision.

I don't know if my G70 has PCA-R but I'm guessing not. I find the rear-cross traffic pretty impressive, though. Several times it's warned me about both pedestrians and cars before I could ever see them coming. I'm not usually easily impressed with tech but this one does impress me. Lane keep assist would be tech that does not impress me...at least not on my 2019 G70. I suspect it works better in newer cars. It works a bit better on our 2021 Santa Fe

Thanks. I guess I expected the RCCA would also detect something behind the car, as its already detecting things approaching from both sides. Why split the functions..oh wait..so they can charge as an option...silly me :).

Their sensors are in different places. The rear parking sensors are obvious, but the RCCA radar sensors are at the side facing rear corners of the bumper so they can “see” down the lane as you back out of your parking space or out of your driveway.
