  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What's this??

I also met the previous owner. He’s the GM of the dealership

And yet he let his car go like that????? Does not say much for him. Hope you get things up to snuff though, overall a good car.

Yes, we know. We have heard that before.

So when he handed me the owners manuals today (I got the car on Saturday) and apologized for leaving them at home, that was a scam?

I cant say for 100% sure, but probably. I have heard that claim hundreds of times on this forum. That is not to deny that the GM may have taken the car home for personal use at times, but I suspect it was also used as a loaner/demo. But I could be wrong.

His story was that he bought the car when he worked at the Hyundai dealership. It had 25,000 miles on it when I bought it. Carfax has the car being serviced at Rick Case Hyundai for a while, then switching to Rick Case Kia eventually.

While I was signing the paperwork in the F&I guy's office, someone came in to ask a question or drop off paperwork and the F&I guy said "Seth's buying Jimmy's car." "The blue Genesis? Nice!"

There were a number of conversations I had with various salespeople, the service manager, etc, like that. Seems like an awful lot of work and coordination for sales BS.

Meh, it's yours now, so as long as warranty takes care of you for anything that happens there's really nothing to worry about. When I got mine they said it was a nurse lady who trades in the car every 2 years for something new, whether its true or not but I got the car I wanted and so far warranty took care of everything else.

Congrats! Hope you make it home alright! The S. Fla drive to Atlanta is pretty nice in my opinion. and YOU get to do it in style and comfort... I wanted to do that drive in reverse in my new acquisition but didn't get to do it. I DID do the drive though, roundtrip, but in a rental...

Enjoy and hope all your problems get/got resolved!

Just gotta find a deal on the extended warranty...

I tacked it onto the purchase and spoke to the (in)famous HauB @ JimEllis. Just the CPO Wrap though. I've read that it's not as cool as transferable HPP one? I guess he was feeling decent since I got the vehicle from them. I take it RickCase wasn't in a generous mood?

I got it from their Kia dealer, so I could only get the 3rd party warranty. About $1950. Mind if I ask how much you paid?

I think you mean the difference between the HPP Wrap and the HPP Platinum Plan. Wrap is cheaper. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two (minus price). I have the HPP Platinum Plan (10/100/$0) and the plan paperwork almost needs a law degree to decipher it.

After some discussion, I managed to get it for a hair (+50) over that what you were quoted. Not the best negotiator here. I actually hate doing such things, but w/e, like they say, part of the game. Also, to be clear, mine was the (10/100/$50) HPP Wrap.

I think I read somewhere that the wrap was non transferable, whereas the platinum plan was? Other than that, the coverage (hopefully) is the same. Maybe you need the Platinum Plan to cover powertrain since it never got the reinitialization of the powertrain coverage through the CPO process? *shrug*

My car is CPO. Not sure why Hyundai gave me a Platinum Plan.

My car isn't a Hyundai CPO, but it IS covered by a CPO-like warranty from Rick Case. So I could get a wrap as well. But the dealer in Hilton Head said that the difference between the full warranty and the wrap was only $180 or so.

sgrenald, is there a specific person you talked to @ Rick case?
I'm in the market for an HPP on another Hyundai I own and looking for the best deal...

I spoke with a guy at the Rick Case Hyundai dealer near FLL and he quoted me a price of $2571 or so for the HPP. The guy at the other Rick Case Hyundai dealer quoted me $4500. There's something BS-y going on though, because extended warranties are treated like insurance in Florida, so they can't just price them however they want. I think the sleazy guy in Davie was deliberately quoting me a different warranty so I'd take their cheaper third party warranty. When I spoke with the F&I guy here in Savannah, he showed me his computer which had a $4500 warranty, but he quoted me a lower priced HPP.

Don't pay any attention to what is in a computer or what the F&I guy says. There is a dealer cost for the warranty, and they can mark it up as much or as little as they want to.

My understanding is that, in Florida, where Rick Case is located, the pricing for warranties is not "whatever they want to price it at" but is at some kind of cost plus markup. The Rick Case Kia dealer quoted me one price for their third party warranty, and the other guy quoted me a much higher price for that as well.

I'm trying to get Hyundai's extended warranty. I purchased a 2016 (Hyundai's) company car, with 24K miles, which came with only the base 5/60 warranty.
I read on this thread and others, of HPP, CPO Wrap, VSC and so on and I can't really determine the difference among all those plans.
Can you please help me here in terms of which program will cover the most, compared to the 1st owner warranties?
