  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Only something my wife would notice but there is actually only one full size cupholder in my Genesis? (at least in the front) I have one regular one and one small one which I really cant understand its use?

Would you mind taking a photo of that? It sounds strange...

The smaller one holds the beer

El Oh El :p

Don't have a picture at the moment, but I can confirm the two cup holders are NOT the same size.

It does sound a bit odd, but I can only GUESS the larger is for your coffee cups/7-Eleven Slurpee things of any size and the smaller for things like Red Bull cans which would wiggle around in the larger.

Either both or at least one of them (bad memory) also includes these spring loaded ... thingies ... that move in and out so as to hold your liquid container more tightly. (One of the reasons I didn't get a Maserati was that that company apparently assumed its drivers ONLY drank Red Bull as the cup holders couldn't hold any container larger than that!)

My previous car, a 2011 Audi A4, also had two cupholders in the front that were a different size. The larger one was able to accommodate larger cups and bottles, whereas the other one fit smaller bottles (like a regular size water bottle). I found this to be a bit annoying and have found that the smaller one on the Genesis is actually larger than the smaller one on the Audi A4.

The German engineers do not like cupholders and probably felt their cars should be driven and not dined in. My BMW's had notoriously awful cupholders that appeared to be an afterthought. No one does cupholders like american cars and trucks.

+1
Very true. Never bothered me thought, since I rarely use them and if I ever do, I keep ~20oz battle of water.

Your statement is true for BMW, however my two Mercedes have very good cub holders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQXaysrRkmw

I agree... It is weird. But, one if my engineers was with me.. We took two large cups that did not have a restricted based (to fit smaller cup holders), and we knew they both could not be set in the holders. Here is what we found. The mid and top sections of these larger cup bumped into each other. The spacing was too close of the holders fro two very large cups. Also super sized cups with restricted sized bases also are too wide in the mid and upper sections to put in the holders (even though the restricted smaller sized bases both would fit in the holders).

This is my experience.... That may or may not be the reason they made it different sizes. Also, two uber sized cups there seem unstable and can get in way if arms moves over the console controls too quickly while driving.
