  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok guys....really weird thing happened last week and still goes on since then. If you see the first picture that button I always left it on while the Gen was running so that air from the outside wouldn't get in. After i turned off and turned back on that button would still be on as soon as i start my genny.

Last week I started having all my windows foggy from the inside, so much that it was almost watery wet. This never happened before :(

Then I realized that the button was off when i turned the genny on. For some reason it won't stay ON after shutting the Genny and turning it back on :(

It's such a pain to keep cleaning the windows from the inside everytime i leave my genny! I live in LA so weather isn't that cold but even then it didn't get fogged inside on cold weather weeks prior. Any suggestions? Should I take this to the dealer???

You should not recirculate inside air if you want to clear fogged windows. Just set the control to AUTO and start your car, and windows should clear quickly. When you recirculate inside air, moisture from your breathing hits the cold window and condenses, so you want fresh outside air to counteract that.

The only reason to use inside air is if there is temporarily a bad odor or dust outside, or if it is extremely hot or extremely cold outside and you only want inside air until the A/C gets cold (if very hot outside) or until the engine heats up (if very cold outside). These temp extremes rarely exist in LA. But in case you do need to recirculate inside air, you should switch back to outside air (AUTO) as soon as possible.

Use Auto. If there is an outside smell push the A with the circle around it.

Pages 4-92 & 4-93 of your owners manual Describe the operation and position of theses controls.
If the controls do not operate a described than it is dealer time.
If you do not have an owner’s manual you can obtain one at www.hamuservice.com just sign up and it is free access to Hyundai service manuals and owner’s manuals.

Many of your posted questions can be answered there. Also you might try the “search” function on this site since there is a lot of information from owners who have been there and done that. I know the search function is a little cumbersome, but once you work with it a while and learn how to navigate it you will find it quite useful.:)

The Genny also has an automatic windshield defrost. One of the sensors above the rear-view mirror detects moisture on the glass and will automatically defrost the windshield. This auto-defrost would prevent the recirc from coming on. I'd wager the car is working just fine.

Thanks guys! I don't know if this happens to you guys aswell. I had my previous car and although it would get foggy inside on cold days, never was this bad ( very watery ) so just by defrosting inside doesn't much at all unless i wipe it with something. But anyways since it's my first winter with my genny i guess i was a bit shocked.

I will update you guys on this unless i'm not the only one...then nvm lol

If you keep it on AUTO right before you shut off the car, I think that will help. Whenever you recirculate, there is more moisture inside the car. Besides, it is not healthy to be breathing recirculated air all the time, unless there is something really wrong with the outside air (hopefully temporarily).

....and I believe the recirculate button will automatically switch to autoside air after 15 minutes or so to prevent fogging of windows and stale air, but the system is able to switch between outside and inside air.

My car has been fogging up more lately too. Didn't think much of it.

Live in So Cal as well.

I used to have this problem at drive-in movies. Too much steam in the car.

lol.....yeah this is different haha btw i did what others told me to do....no luck :( i had a crappier car and the fogs weren't this bad! and by bad I mean like....so watery that by turning the thing on won't make it gone! i literally have to grab a rag or microfiber and clean it up! plus the weather here even in winter is around 60 to 50 degrees the lowest.........

If this happens to other genesis then i guess there is nothing i can do...i thought it was just my car :(
